Gotten a bit group shy in my moto-solitude, but I think I'd like to change that. I haven't been to TNC in Beaverton in years but the feel wasn't what it used to be and I stopped going. Plus trekking down there every week kinda sucks.

Nice to see some familiar names around here. It's been a LONG time.
If anyone's still interested in these, I'm game to organize (please understand I'm not looking to hijack ownership, just offering to take lead) and can likely get the OK for a different location off of St. John's. I just don't want to try and organize something and it go bust because no one shows up. If anyone that's active on Facebook or whatever wanted to share there as well for more visibility, that'd be fine. I'm just not active there and have no intentions of setting up an account now.

Either way we're running out of warm seasons in the next couple months and it would be nice to get some semblance of a social life going again, especially with other riders. Let me know what yall think, let's make something happen.

I say go ahead and post something up. Oldmanriver and I, were the last "regulars", and if you want to resurrect the gathering, I would suggest picking a Time and Place that suits and can accommodate folks' schedules. If you do decide to change the locale and/or date, I would suggest starting a new "Coffee or Bike Night Thread.

Totally agree with FeralRdr. Say you will be there and people may show up. But there is nothing wrong with posting a new coffee night spot as a new thread! That might also add to the attraction. I enjoyed bike and ride nights back when I could hear. In retrospect I wish I went to more of them. I still hit Thursday night ride once in a while.

Awesome, sounds good. I think I'll do that once I figure out the logistics of doing such a thing (getting permission from business owners, location, scheduling, etc). Thanks for the tip!

👀 I like the sounds of this. I would be happy to help out with organization if you need it. Let me know what i can do to help.

I think it wouldn't hurt to avoid days that already have standing days/times. Tuesday for example. Not a ton from our area go to TNC (so I've heard) in Beaverton but we might entice some from their side of the river if people aren't forced to choose between the two. Especially if we establish rides beforehand that finish off at the location of the bike night.

There's a lot more local riders on our side of the river than there used to be, so if we can find a solid, consistent location with decent space, it could easily become a regular event even through the off-season

Biggest issue is usually discouraging foolish, obnoxious behavior that pisses off the locals and makes events hard to keep going without moving around alot.

Yeah, that's why I've really wanted to see something like this on our side of the river. There are two weekly meet-ups in PDX, but like hell if I'm riding through rush hour traffic on southbound 205 or i5 to get to either one.

Having something on this side would be awesome, and might be able to entice people from a bit further north (Ridgefield, La Center, Woodland, etc) to come as well if the location I have in mind doesn't grant permission and somewhere closer to the I5/205 junction is identified.

Luckily the place I'm thinking of has a fairly restrictive parking lot so the wheelie-ing types wouldn't be able to cause issues. I just need to get ahold of the owners (old employer, long time friends, one of which is a rider himself) and get the sign-off. It's also a bit more centrally located than the old location, and is in an area that has convenient egress to both freeways and most areas of town.

Also good point on scheduling for an "off" day as to not compete with the other established meet-ups.

I would definitely need assistance mapping out rides as well as I'm still not terribly familiar with a lot of the nicer riding roads on this side of the river. Pretty much only know the area around Cougar and out towards Astoria. Someone experienced in organizing these kind of things would also be helpful. I've done car meetups and similar, but I'm not sure how many of the same rules apply to the riding culture.

I'll spin up a new thread as to not clutter this one and see what kind of traction it gets. Will also swing by the prospective location and speak with the owners tomorrow about getting permission. I'm sure they'll be for it so long a-holes don't be a-holes and they see at least a small bump of revenue from the event's patronage. Once the new thread is up, I'll drop a link and we can continue the conversation over there.
