Todays ride

I gotta find a new place to ride. I can only do one day rides and there are only so many times I can go around Mt Hood, today for third or fourth time,Cougar/Carson then Carson/Cougar,Mt St Helens, germantown road, the coast, and so on. 80s today at Gov. camp so that's where I went. Up 26 to g camp for a break, on to 35 down to Hood river. 84 to 205 North to home in La Center. Never been so bored while riding in my life. Could'nt wait to get home and be done.I like easy going rides generally speed limit and I'm out of ideas. Get a grom and scout north portland back alleys? Probably not. Criss cross all the Vancouver neighborhoods? Already done that. I don't know. Like to do Hurricane ridge but can't one day it. Mt Rainier? Maybe. In my working life I had been to most of the medium to large cities in the WA,OR,ID, area.Ideas anyone? I live in La Center 15 miles north of Vancouver.

leave a little earlier head out Hwy. 14 to Hwy. 141..up to Glenwood..down to Hwy. 142 and the Klickitat Canyon..back on Hwy. 14...
a bit of a ways for you..but out to Estacada up 242/nf-46 to Detroit and back the same way is one hoot of a ride...
NFD-25 from the Swift Reservior up to NF-99 and Windy Ridge is a great ride even if the road leaves something to be desired...
when I'm sittin' around thinkin' of a ride..I check off all of the roads I've been down a thousand times..I think yeah btdt..what a bore..but once on my bike that feeling leaves...

Here's a few ideas.

Went to the North Coast the Other Day

Apiary - Meissner - Canaan Rds

Go North (Parallel I-5)

And, Back Again

Mt. Hood Loop With Expanded Horizons

Chad's Recommendation: Basic Klickitat Loop

Alt. Klick' Options (Sunnyside Rd - Klick-Appleton HWY/Canyon Rd - Old HWY 8 - Cook-Underwood Rd)

Detroit Lake and Back

I live near Amboy and I rode to Mary's Peak yesterday. A long way for a one-day ride, but worth it.

Just a friendly suggestion. Please post up a date in the title section. There are 365 "Todays" in the year and posting the date in the title helps put older ride threads to bed. Thanks

Another groove on this ride is take the road east from Glenwood towards 142, a mile or so out of town look on the right for Lakeside Rd, take that a few miles to Fisher Hill Rd on the left. A few miles on that Fisher Hill turns left but continue straight - County just got done connecting the unpaved dots. That will take you on to Old Hiway 8 just at Lyle on RT 14. Lotsa twisties...log truck traffic during the week

If I had a supermoto, grom or any other variety of light flick-able 2 wheel machine, I would hit that road as often as I could. You can have a lot fun on that road on 1,000+cc Sport Touring bike too.

The Mt Hood loop, above -- the part between OR-35, Dufur, Tygh Valley and OR-35 again -- is my favorite ride within 100 miles of Portland. A little blah getting there, but OMG is it worth it. Take it easy, it's not that fast a route (except the part on 197: if you're not worried about county mounties it's a fun place to break every speed limit known to man -- ahem, not that I would know), but it's one to be savored.

Your grom idea isn't far off the map.
I had a sumo this year for like 4 months.
Changed the way I ride.
Shorter rides, different places/roads, all close to home.
I went down smaller streets, in alleys, up ramps, lots of places I'd never gone before right here in Port Orchard.
But the wheelie monster got the better of me, so I sold it.
I am thinking - scooter.
There is something to be said for low-n-slow.
More seeing less zooming.

I don't know if they've fixed it yet, but early on there's a chunk of raised, lumpy pavement on a right-hand bend that you don't want to be going fast when you hit. It doesn't look like much until you're right on top of it, and it's exactly the kind of thing that can knock you off your line and send you into an oncoming radiator grille. It's just coming up here.

Nope; it's still there.

The good news is there is warning signage posted, and that is the worst of the road damage. The rest of the road is in really great shape.
