Video of Austria Trip

Helmet camera video of a motorcycle ride along a great main road near Mariazell, Austria. Then a couple of narrow roads over a ridge. My wife Julie is in front and our friends Stuart and Thelma are following her.

Sounds like that is going to be a motorcycle trip, right? Are you on your own or with a group?

No, we'll be in a car since this will be my first time out and about there (Ramstein doesn't count). Lot's of expenses this time so we'll save the mc's for the next time. She's informed me that it's ok this time but that this will be the first, last, and only time we'll be driving, lol.

Does that mean the next time will be riding a motorcycle?? There are lots of beautiful roads in Austria and southern Germany that are made for motorcycles (and fast cars). Here is a link that could provide some interesting options, alpine roads. If your car trip wets your whistle for taking these roads on a motorcycle, maybe I could provide some useful suggestions.

That's the plan, but who knows when that'll be. She's German so might be much sooner than later.

YES.

We're in the car this time but it sure was a hard decision to make .
I have not quite reconciled it. We are in the car because "some of us" cannot ride and look at stuff at the same time.

This trip being in April I can handle driving -well, April there is much like April here in Oregon: not all that awesome.

Suggestions, yes, please!
(Although having grown up near Nuernberg I am familiar with our roads and the best places to see).

Thanks much, cheers!

UGH

Sigh .....sooo wished it were a bike trip.
Had already plotted on whether to ship the bike or rent...wouldn't it be awesome to get some European miles on yer favorite bike?

edit: He really never reads this forum so I figure this is a safe place, a vault so to speak where I can vent about HOW MUCH I'd like to take the trip by bike!

OK, but I feel a little silly offering suggestions to someone that grew up in that area. Here are my thoughts (regarding Austria) for what they are worth. Most motorcyclists head for western Austria and the very impressive Alpine peaks and passes. That part of Austria is beautiful and you shouldn't miss it. But for motorcycle riding, I feel that eastern Austria had roads that were more fun, less tight hairpins and more sweepers. There are lots of roads around the little mountain village of Mariazell.
