So... I'm off work! At the moment, I don't have a good place to keep the bike in Wally World, so I'd probably meet y'all on your way through Pomeroy.

Also, I'm going to see if I can make the breakfast club this weekend. I need to do some maintenance on the bike first (the chain was overdue for a change before it sat all winter), but it's just possible I might be able to get it all done and a chunk of my folks' chore list before Sunday morning. I may also wuss out if it's raining - that's a long-ish first ride of the season if the weather's going to be crap!

Hi Brian, good to hear you can make it this year. Since the cafe in Starbucks closed, some of us have been having lunch at Tinaís in Pomeroy. We usually get there around noon. If we miss you then we will see you at the truck stop gas stop on the Lewiston bypass or Kamiah.

I'm considering it and this thread is the first I've ever heard of this run. Is there anyone that can give me a quick history lesson and route breakdown? This is exactly the kind of ride I've been looking for, as long as y'all don't mind a loud a$$ baby Vulcan stinkin up your formation! I would have to ride from Salem to your starting point to meet up, maybe just crash in Kennewick Thursday night. I don't wanna step on any toes though, so lemme know if I'm not welcome, no offense taken. Thanks!

The history of this ride from 2011 until 2016 is posted in the Central section of PNWRiders.com. Easy to find with the search option but you probably need to be a member to use it.

We had formal groups in the early days but now most riders form their own groups or just meet in Kamiah. My small group will be leaving from the Starbucks parking lot at the corner of Highway 395 and Clearwater in Kennewick at 10:00 AM. The route is the Pasco-Kahlotus Rd to Kahlotus, Highway 260 then 261 thru Starbuck to Highway 12, Highway 128 over the Snake River at Clarkston to truckstop for gas, rejoin Highway 12 east of Lewiston, and follow Highway 12 to Kamiah.

Everyone is welcome and you will not have any problems keeping up on your Vulcan if you can ride 55-60 mph and go 50-60 miles between stops. No one will get left behind! Another option is to meet the group at Tina's cafe in Pomeroy when we stop for lunch around noon. Let me know if you want to join the group at Kennewick and be ready to go at 9:50 am with a full tank of gas.

I think I got that all plugged into Google maps. It looks like it's a 4hr17min 211 mile ride...is that right?

Here's the link to a pic I took of the route on my laptop, lemme know if I screwed it up. Thanks!!

Itís close but it looks to me that your route is on the south side of the Snake River, probably on Highway 124 when we will be riding on the north side of the Snake River on the Pasco-Kahlotus Highway. Both are good routes.

Copy that, I shall adjust. It looks like I might be able to make this happen. I'm pretty excited, because the whole reason I came out here to the PNW was to explore and soak up the scenery. I can't make any promises, but I can say my chances of being able to do this ride have gone from 50/50 to 65/35. I'll let y'all know soon enough. I need to figure out how I'm gonna come up with the extra cash to cover hotel rooms. Gas isn't a problem...lol...but rooms might break me. Maybe I'll just bring a tent

Make it happen. You won't regret it!

If it'll tip the scales, I'm sure you can crash with one of us tri-cities folks Thursday night.

I'll tell you something you'll regret...haha...my snoring. I need to be quarantined at night or else nobody gets any sleep lol. I appreciate the offer, but there's nothing worse than going on a long run and getting very little sleep because everyone around you is angry and tired from having to wake you up every half hour to stop the snoring.

It would be cool if I could camp in your backyard or something though...? That would save me the trouble of having to figure out where to pitch a tent that night. Plus, it would allow me a chance to take a shower before the run, if you'd allow it, of course.

I need to get a snore guard mouthpiece. I think I have sleep apnea. Anyways, not your problem and I would prefer to keep it that way lol!

My house (and yard) is always open to folks on two wheels! Shoot me a PM and we'll hash out details.

FYI, lots of flooding and slides going on along the Clearwater right now between the rain and melting snow in the mountains. 12 is closed just East of Kamiah, with rock slides closer to Lewiston. The entire town of Stites (12 miles from Kamiah) was flooded.

Probably a good idea to keep an eye on the Idaho 511 website:
https://hb.511.idaho.gov/#roadReport...%2CotherStates

If the closure isn't cleaned up, it might be worth redirecting South along 95 until Craigmont, then taking 62 & 64 East to Kamiah. It's high, rolling farmland and it looks like one construction zone, so not as much fun as following the river, but the final descent into Kamiah is pretty twisty.

Thanks for the update, hopefully everything will be back to normal by May 3.

If Highway 12 is sill closed the alternate route is Highway 95 to Craigmont, 62 to Nezperce, and then 162 to Kamiah. Highway 64 is a shorter distance than 162 from Nezperce to Kamiah but the last few miles, which is a fairly steep downhill, is NOT paved.
