Well, it is not looking good for my attendance. Pretty much everything I can deduce is that the US wil not be reopening the border come Aug 21. I'll hold out until then, but I have already made alternate plans for that week.

A shame, as I was really looking forward to attending again and catching up with all of you.

Cheers,

Kai

There are some riders that are going that have not posted here or on the Facebook page. I believe we have about 15 riders going so far.

Well, it is with regret I have to announce I shall not be able to attend this year. The US border closure has been extended to September 21. Such a bummer, as I have always had such a gas when getting together with everyone.

Have a great time, be safe. Hopefully next year.

Cheers,

Kai

Anyone have any route recommendations? I've always taken NF-52 from Ukiah to Sumpter. Anything else I should be checking out to get over the mountains?

That is a fun rip.

I rode it outbound from Baker last time I was able to attend.

One good ride into baker is 207 South from Hermiston to Lexington.

At Lexington take 74 to Heppner, then the 206 to the 207. Get Southbound on 207 to Spray, then get on 19 Eastbound t Kimberly.

At Kimberly take 402 East to the junction with 395 . The head South on the 395 to the 26.

East on 26 to 7, and take that into Baker City. Some spectacular tiwsties and vistas on that route.

last I rode to Baker City we rode down 385 from Ukiah to Hwy. 20 to Hwy. 7 and into Baker City...it was really nice...I've thought about going east on 244 out of Ukiah and catching Grande Ronde River Rd. going south...Butler's maps says it's a good one...
I think the group I'll be in is heading to Heppner from Kennewick then over to 395 from there...looks like fun...

Please verify your Reservations at the Oregon Trail Motel. There has been a couple of mess ups already. Including my two rooms I booked back in July.

Usually how this works, riders form their own groups depending on pace, distance and who they would like to ride with at planned starting points and all groups meet up at the motel at the end of their rides. If there are individuals who need to join a group to ride with, just post up and we'll get you matched up with one. Nobody will be left behind.
In the past, Friday morning starting point for Kennewick was Starbucks on Hwy 395 and Kennewick Ave. Kick stands up at 8:30am. For Hermiston, we'll be leaving from Hales restaurant on main st at 9:00am. Each group can post up what route and distance they would like to do so they can decide when and where they would like leave from other than these two places.
Also check out the Facebook page where most pics and activities will be posted. You'll have to be invited in.

Nice! I am headed that way early tomorrow from Spanaway.

I took FS25 on Wednesday to Baker City. FS25 has several gravel sections to be wary of. There are 4 gravel sections. The 2nd gravel section instead of crushed rock has a deep covering of round river rock! I was on my C14 and in this section I almost face planted so many times for the 100 feet.

Had a good ride, BC was only 75 degrees and riding back into Sisters to ride McKenzie pass was in the 50's! perfect!
