Anybody on here do any racing at Mission Raceway with the Westwood Motorcycle Club? I'm toying with the idea of racing this year since it doesn't look like I'll be able to cross the border for track days anytime soon. I've just got some new guy to racing questions about bike prep and such and it would be nice to talk to someone already involved in the club. Cheers |

I just picked up a flier at the Vancouver Motorcycle Show booth a few years back, was considering trying a trackday since it was so close. There's apparently a DB limit, so end can inserts might be needed if exhaust is not stock. That's all I know... ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I'm thinking I'd have to run my stock exhaust. I can't imagine that there's enough db killers in the world to keep my Daytona below the limit running my Hindle can.

What's wrong with K&N oil filters? Don't use them myself, but curious.

I think there was a couple of failures involving k&n filters and some organizations have done the obligatory carpet ban.

Basically, people were using a wrench to tighten them on instead of using just hand pressure and the welds weren't strong enough so the lug was breaking off or just simply leaking. That's my understanding of the old problem. I think they fixed it, but one should never tighten them with a wrench regardless.

oh. funny thing - i bought a KN for my bike and with that wrench-lug on there it would not fit behind the header so i used a hacksaw and cut the lug off and it went on easy-peasy. that lug is only like tac-welded on top of a regular oil filter body.

Apparently the nut on top is only supposed to be used to LOOSEN it. People didn't realize that though

The Westwood club has an active Fb page - https://www.facebook.com/WestwoodRacing They are always looking to grow. There is a significant number of things required to become a full-race member, and most of the info is easily available on the page. Good luck!

Cheers, I'm one of about three people in the world without a Facebook account so I can't get very deep into their page. Mostly I'm looking for tricks to get my Daytona to pass the 88db limit without going back to a stock system. |
