At one point there was a 2' branch that fell on the track that I stopped and cleared between sessions. That was between the 7 or so bikes I also stopped to assist throughout the day.

I thought it was an animal scurrying down the track the first one I saw. It held its line as it rolled down the hill. I made a clean pass. I was not the slowest thing on the track any more.

lol fixed it for you in post production:P There's a very noticeable difference between your pic and Astairs in terms of body position. Bike lean is near equal. Get your butt off the bike more and work on yer body position. You are almost there...

Haha...it is closer! And thanks for the photoshop...too bad my friends already saw the original!

As for body position, I was totally noticing that about Astairs when I was comparing our two pictures. I read this article and started to better understand what I'm doing wrong. I'm going to keep on reading up on it and ask to try out the lean machine again during my 2Fast track day on the 12th.

Yup, it's definitely a work in progress, but it's nice to finally be able to move around on the bike. Until this last track day I was riding in a somewhat restrictive 1-piece textile suit (rode straight up and down in the middle of the seat). The leather 1-piece really makes a difference in mobility. Now I just have to keep pushing myself and working on my weak points!

Next year if you're doing a OPRT track day, grab an instructor and have him/her follow you around a bit. Any of them will be happy to help you out with some tips on getting your body position correct or anything else.
