I seen too many perfectly working bikes on the Ducati forum be parted out just because they are worth more in parts than in working condition.

The last one was an 1198

I'm guessing it takes some good eBay bargains to bring a Duc back from the grave. I'd probably still give it a try though and then make it a dedicated track bike. I love my GSXR track bike, but I'm still jealous whenever the Ducati supersports go rolling by my pit area.

I'm just a hopeful kind of guy, especially when I don't see them in two big pieces!

I have hopes of resurrecting it into a track bike..........biggest kicker will be if the frame is bent...I dont see any leaking fluids so I should be good there. Otherwise, it's an excuse to go to the 30mm offset triple clamps, ohlins forks, aluminum fuel tank, and some pretty new track fairings............but that's me being optimistic (understatement).

Thanks to anybody that was out there that helped out, if you want to see the video, here is the link. The guy that took the video is going to send me a thumb drive with the 1080p footage and my buddy is going to put it in slo-mo so you can see it better. If you slow the speed down to .25 and frame through it (play-pause-play-pause...) you can see the bike flipping end over end sideways, but i'm hidden somewhere in the dust tumbling like i was put into a dryer at 60+mph (by the way, anybody have an idea of the corner speed through 4 and 5 so I can tell people how fast i was probably going when I crashed?)

I know exactly what I did wrong now that I've seen the video (I hit my head quite a few times while tumbling so video evidence helped bring back the memory )....Target fixation.........i was focused on the grass as I was getting closer and closer to it rather than looking down the track where I should have been........panicked, stood her up to run off into the grass and try and stop in a straight line........wham-bam thank you ma'am

Lots left to learn for me, unfortunately it was an expensive lesson, but I'll be back!!!

Glad you're OK and looks like the bike has mostly cosmetic damage. I've seen and come back from much worse.

For me T4-5 is right in the powerband of 4th, so around 80mph? I know that doesn't seem that fast when you consider we're hitting 150+ on the straight, but next time you're on the freeway in your truck, go 80, look down at the pavement out the window and ask yourself "would I jump out right now?" Fuck no.

Not trying to promote the forum but on the Ducati forum I'm on the guys go out of their way to find parts for you, some just give them away. The last part out was 100% on the forum no craigslist no ebay.

Ruh-roh! Glad you're alright...that's a fast crash. Speeds between 4 and 5 are generally 70-90mph depending on the rider. My guess is you were doing between 70-80mph based on the video. (Reference) Gotta keep your eyes up and looking through T5 apex!

Sorry about your bike

Also, I'm in for Sunday. It's gonna be hot out!

@ knutsonbm, that sucks, hope YOU are ok.
Good news!? This qualifies you for free remedial, one on one, training at our next track event that you are able to attend.

Remember how we talked about vision, focus, having a plan?

Daydreaming? Admiring yourself in the mirrors? Staring at your front fender?

Man, you were doing really well, eh, a teachable moment...it happens.

Let me know if you want help turning that beast into a track killer.
