Mechanical Test Ride on the Street for a Track ONLY Bike

I was taking with the local shop in Bend, OR and I was pointed to this little gem.

https://www.oregon.gov/ODOT/Forms/DMV/6577.pdf

A Special Interest Vehicle/ Racing Vehicle can get a specific permit to do mechanical test rides of 30 miles and travel up to 90 miles to a race event.

Iím going to try it on my GSX-R with an MSO and all racing bodywork. See if one of the small DMVís will just sign it off and let it through.
Burphel and Greg like this.

Interesting. The paragraph about race vehicles lists a fair number of car-specific safety equipment. A very literal interpretation of the laws might get your app denied, although most race bikes are no less safe than street bikes aside from lighting for visibility. If it works, I wanna know. It'd be real handy to be able to take my Ninjette for a spin from time to time.

I was expecting this to be a "do you think I can get away with it?" thread. Pleasantly surprised.

In the requirements for racing activities vehicle they call out,

"A suspension with both front and rear double unequal length wishbones and inboard
pushrod operated dampers"

Awful damn specific!

Sorry no solid axle race cars.

Must be for Formula 1 and Indy cars. No Nascar!

I bet this is specific to "kit" cars like the Ariel Atom or Locost Seven.

I'm kinda tempted to fill it out and take it to the DMV anyway - Catch the clerk in the right "rubber stamping" mood, and you might just get a quasi-legal plate/reg out of it.
