Dani rode it very smoothly with good corner speed, Marc is just Marc. I think there is a good chance Jorge melds with the Honda, but you could also be right...

Dani was smooth, always has been, but he was no longer fast (in comparison). The Honda is a brut, and takes a willingness to be "un-smooth" to really go fast. If you watch, the Yamahas carry great corner speed and all those rider make sweeping apexes. The Hondas, and Ducs, are more point and shoot. Come in hard, brake late, pull the trigger and shoot out.

Jorge needs a bike that can be smooth, and fast. Neither the Honda nor the Duc are that bike.

Just say'n, he's in the top 5 at the end of the season, every season except for two.

I like Danny's no nonsense riding and he's had very close brushes with walking away with a championship. Blame it on bad luck, or whatever, it's racing in the end.

Well I sorta disagree with you on that one. His second places have been FAR behind the leader

2007: 367 - 242 (Casey Stoner)
2010: 383 - 245 (Lorenzo)
2012: 350 - 332 (Lorenzo)

I will agree the last one seems close but Lorenzo dumped it in the last race at a wet Valencia after wrapping up the championship at the last race.

It seemed to work pretty well for him last weekend?!
DocB likes this.

To me, I guess the bottom line is; he's a great rider, has been for over 10 years. Very consistent, but tends to bin that bike, has had injury problems (he's so small for shits sake), but has kept that factory Honda since day one, no? Always seemed to me that his relationship with Puig has been a big factor in him keeping that HRC ride. Isn't Puig a main sponsor of HRC's? Hell, he was a teammate of Nicky Hayden's. Didn't he take out Nicky in pit row one time back in the day? Anyways..should be interesting to see where he lands next year..to be continued..

I forget the season, where he suffered that large crash from when the rear wheel sensor wire got severed in a brush with another bike made the bike misbehave and he crash really hard. That was the one he was well poised for a championship, but bad luck...aka racing...got the better of him. I'm not sure if he finished the season out due to injuries.

That other rider was his teammate, good ole MM.

And yes, he did take out Nicky at the second to last race of '06. If Rossi hadn't crashed at the last race, Dani would have cost Nicky the title.

Personally I like Dani. He's always been one of those humble riders that stays out of all the drama drummed up by his fellow Spaniards and just rides his race. Gonna miss him on the factory bikr.

Those are the reasons I really like the guy too.
