Maybe Petrucci will get that other factory Ducati ride...he certainly has earned it. DP could be off the grid. Always been an under-achiever, IMHO. With that factory ride for what, 10-12 years, he shoulda been at least in the top 5 in points every year. I have gained a fair amount of respect for him over the years, he's a warrior without a ride...for now.

There is a reason that they've kept him around...
During his time in MogoGP:
2006, 5th
2007, 2nd
2008, 3rd
2009, 3rd
2010, 2nd
2011, 4th
2012, 2nd
2013, 3rd
2014, 4th
2015, 4th
2016, 6th
2017, 4th
and in 2018, he's currently 12th

I aint saying he's not a good rider, and he's had some really good riders for teammates, but seems to me that with that factory ride, he should have at least 1 championship. More wins for sure. It's all politics, I'm sure. And with his career low qualifying at Mugello this past weekend and binning it in the 2nd corner, well, let's just say he's overdue to be released from that coveted factory ride. As good as that Honda's been over the last 15 years, he should be finishing in the top 5. My bad if I didn't get the specifics right, but come on, I aint google-ing everything. I just watch the races and marvel at the skills. From anyone who can qualify on those beasts.

Keep in mind that by securing Lorenzo, Honda has made a very strategic power move in keeping Lorenzo off of a Yamaha.

They don't care if he wins a championship, they just don't want him to have a chance to win it for anyone else.

Chances are Jorge is either gonna be real slow, or on his butt a lot, with the Honda. There's a reason why MM is crashing, or nearly crashing, so much; it's really the only way to go fast on it.

I read an article a year or so ago talking about one of the major differences between how Yamaha and Honda go about engineering a GP bike. Yamaha works hard at tailoring the bike to the rider in order to go fast. Honda, on the other hand, builds the bike they think will go fast and then expects the riders to ride them.

Ducati has kinda gone with the Honda mentality and that was proven by everything Jorge said after Mugello. The whole "if they'd just given me what I wanted I could have won earlier" attitude. Well Jorge, guess what, you're gonna have the same problem with HRC.

They've been eachother's teammates for about 5 years now. Just now they're on the same hardware. I'm glad to see Petrucci getting his factory ride. As for Dani... I'm thinking he'd be a huge snag for one of the newcomers - Suzuki/KTM/Aprilia. I think he's the kind of rider who gives the engineers the feedback they need to make the bike better. Like a test rider that's also a solid as hell racer and will help you win the constructor's championship. Honda will suffer in a few years without him, and if one of the developing manufacturers picks him up, it'll be a huge boost for them.

When Dani retires, they need to name the championship runner-up trophy after him.
