Lap timer recommendations

Hey guys, looking for recommendations on lap timers. Will be doing some track days this year and ready to step up and use one to judge my times. May use it for racing next year. Also, if you have one for sale, I may be interested, let me know. Thanks!

I use Harry’s Lap Timer on my phone, but I’m not a racer.

What's your budget? You could spend $100 or $1000.

Free ones arent bad as a rough guide. Used this when initially getting started. Accuracy is a smidge off.

I won't be racing this year so I don't need the best. I'd be willing to spend up to a couple of hundred however for one that will work now and in the future when I need more data.

$200 will get you an XT Ultra Lap. Lots of memory and can do split times, but it has to have an infrared beacon to trip it off every lap. I have a beacon that I bring, but I'm finding they're becoming rare as more people switch to GPS timers. Ultra-Lap from XT Racing

$425 will get you an entry-level GPS unit that does splits and some other data on its own. GPX Zed from XT Racing

A little over $600 will get you a top-of-the-line GPS logger that can plug into the ECU on most bikes to log not only times and splits, but brake %, throttle % and all kinds of other cool shit. It's really expandable too if you want to add a linked video camera, suspension potentiometers, temp sensors etc.
AiM Solo/SoloDL, the multifunctional GPS Lap Timers

If you know which one you want, it's easy to find used ones on the WERA and other racing forums.

The moto d "start" gps laptimer is a cost effective way to get a gps unit. They are $349. I've got them at my shop OPM in Kirkland if you want to check one out. If you're not ready to buy, you can rent one at OPRT events as well.
