Bye, Vale! You've given us so many thrills.

Rossi out at end of year.

I was never a big Rossi fan, but I am sad to see him go. I started watching MotoGP in 2009, at around the same age as the rookies in GP. With everyone else already retired, and now Rossi, it is apparent that I am not as young as I used to be. Slower on the bike and more likely to receive an injury after a crash... It sucks seeing him go because it sucks getting old.

An end of an era. It really felt like it was over few years back, when he and Yamaha could not rebound from the change to the new Michelin tires and spec ECU's. But I've always enjoyed watching him race and I've rooted for him through the years. To me he was a great combination of talent and cold, calculated aggression.

For sure the end of an era. There are some really promising successors coming up in Moto 2, but the jury is still out if anyone will have the kind of influence that Rossi has over his career. From his sheer talent through his introduction of riding techniques from other riding styles, he definitely left his mark.

I think just like in any sport, subsequent talent's potential just grows through the generations. Look at Marquez, he's a calm and collected, extremely gifted, lunatic on a bike, that IMHO has more talent than Valentino. Either way, it was certainly a fun ride watching Vale race (pun intended).
