Here's a little taste of what we saw today. Recorded with a D5100, 200mm lens, and a 9' spaced pair of omni mics. Quite a challenge to track these guys as they fly by. Use headphones and turn it up!

Really cool! Thanks for posting! That would be one thing I'd like to see some day.

I went there for Speed Week a few years back. Not much for spectators but it was OK to say that I have been there.

I did not have to add a grain of salt to any of my food for over a week after I got home. That has got to be the saltiest salt in the world.

Make sure you wash your car or truck really really well before driving home. That super corrosive salt gets into everything. Trust me on this.

For sure it is not for a passive spectator, as the pace is not intended to entertain an audience. However it is by far the coolest motorsport event I have been to, and I've seen a fairly broad sample of good racing in my life. The venue is other-wordly, the bikes are maximally awesome creations and the people are the nicest I have ever met in a race environment. Watching and hearing the bikes go by was hardon material, and the tech talk with racers while strolling the pits is mind-blowing. At one point the guy next to us came over to show me his goose bumps from watching the BUB streamliner make a run, and it was about 93 out there.

For us local folks it was great to see the Double Duc by Super Rat out of Bellingham get a record of 205mph. WA has been well represented with the likes of the Double Duc, Sodium Distortion and several other homies. I thought I heard that a bike from Bremerton ran yesterday. It was also cool to see two women setting some of the fastest times of the event.

I've got video of several more runs that I will string together (including the Killa Joule electric streamliner sidecar) and post to YouTube. I also have a few pics on my instagram, @bottleheadaudio and fb, @trydyeing

I just got back from the World of Speed event yesterday. What an amazing place! The size of the place is hard to describe, it just seems to go for ever! Only race track I've been to where it's no problem to go 100+ on the way to the pits!?! They were running both bikes and cars, I'll post some pics later. Hard to see much, even with binoculars, but seeing the vehicles and talking to the racers was worth every bit.

It is amazing, like being on another planet. I think the speed limit on the access road is actually 45 .

I think no man's land between the pits and the track is 1/4 mile wide. I thought the view across from the 3 mile mark (we were the very last car at the end of the pit front row) was great with binocs. I used a 200mm lens for my videos. Had a 1000 with me and the riders pretty well filled the screen with it. But I couldn't see the viewfinder in the bright sun and couldn't track the bikes very well, even with the 200. I was kinda thinking we weren't seeing much of each run until I realized I was seeing easily two miles plus - a whole lot more of the bike's run than you can see from one spot at the Ridge or any other road course for that matter.

Of course there is a better way to see the track. Anyone want to help me field a bike next year? I think I found a class begging for a new record.
