1. A real back protector (not the integral one they sell as an add-on).

2. Race/track boots with an exoskeleton and real armor that limit your ability to hyperextend your ankle in the event of a get-off.

3. Good armored gloves -- I am using Held Phantoms at the track - they were $200, but definitely worth the protection and feel at the controls.

4. A solid, good-fitting helmet.

Many of these things can be had for not that much money -- sportbiketrackgear.com has a bunch of close-outs now that may fill some of these needs.

As another poster mentioned - don't scrimp on gear - totally agree. The other area where a lot of guys try to save money is tires - don't do that. Buy good tires.

I currently have a good pair of TCS EVO RX Replica Street Boots, so I will spend my money on a good spine protector and a good pair of gloves.

I am looking at the Dainese Manis D1 Back Protector and the Alpine stars GP Plus gloves. I have super short fingers, so I need to find a shop that will have a couple pairs that I can try on.

I will do a couple track days in my aerostich and then hopefully have the money next year for a good track suit.
Trackdays in an Aerostich are the only way to go! They even sell knee puck velcro patches that you can attach for the trackday, assuming you didn't have them added when the suit was built.

I love the sound of freedom! I never get tired of watching them take off when I'm on the base and it's funny to see others stop and watch too.
That's what I thought, but I see F-16's taking off regularly.

I currently ride a 2016 Ninja ZX6r with an aerostitch. I am looking at options for leathers and wanted to get some advice for a track suit.

What shops are in the area to try brands and sizes? I have a super long torso and arms with stubby legs, so my 6'1" height rarely matches the size charts.

Are there companies that rent leathers for track days, or should I look at wearing my aerostitch for my first time?

I will be in the beginner group and probably sign up for the training. I have ridden for 6 years, but I want to get the insight from an instructor. I have really enjoyed listening to the Ken Hill poscasts after I noticed 2fast talking about his series.

I am excited for the 2019 riding season. Hopefully I will see some of you guys out there.

Aerostich will work fine. Though consider that a small concern. Once you've been out on the track it'll likely be; OMG I've got to get a track bike, and tire warmers , and a generator, and a toy hauler.
Want to dip your toe in the water? Come out to any OPRT event for the free Taste of The Track lunchtime track ride.
Amd, I'm looking forward to parking mext to your toy hauler soon.

About 5 1/2 each way for me, but that is most tracks except PIR and OPRT from Central Oregon.

New set of slicks mounted up. Getting my prep work done.

The forecast has been look pretty decent and I can reschedule up to 7 days in advance so I知 just going to watch it close and make my final decision the week before.

The forecast has been variable but I知 holding out for sun, high 60痴, and no rain.

Revel slowly in the fact that every body is going in the same direction without any intersections (with the exceptions of track entry & exit). Take your time to actually visualize your lines and potential breaking & turn-in points within the “Novice Group”.
You are going to have an absolute blast exploring the potential limits of Man & Machine in a “safe” environment. And remember, you have to go slow... to go faster. Welcome!
