RIP Inland Speed

Was going to start a thread asking about inland speed's schedule for 2016 before I went to their website, and found they aren't doing any track days this year

I know the track is doing the open road course days for cars and bikes, and there are a LOT of dates for that. Its still sad to me that inland speed isn't holding any events. I really enjoyed learning from the different control riders and having the A B C groups and a real tech inspection, none of which occur during the open days. The inland speed days just seem a lot safer for those reasons.

Anyways, thanks Darrell and everyone else that was involved with making inland speed happen. I only got to do 3 track days with you guys, but had a blast and now I'm hooked. I don't know what I would do if the track wasn't having their own open days lol.

That is sad, I did an Inland Speed TD or two and was very pleased. This fall I am doing a 2 day session with the MotoFit group at ORP...they are all good!

Would LOVE to see IS keep it up with a few days on the schedule this year, but also understand why they are no longer. Had a great time while it lasted, Darrel and Andrea always put on a well-run show. Sorry to see the last motorcycle trackday at SCR go.

Again, big thanks to Darrel and Andrea (and all the others that put these together!) for the good times!

Of all the days I spent either corner working, being track marshal, or riding at SRP, the InlandSpeed.com days (even the original FFF trackdays) were the best. Every single time, I left with more knowledge than I came in with. Even the day I wadded my bike on two...I didn't walk away, but I did learn something.

Future riders should be so lucky to have a similar experience.

Dang. Did my first track days with Inland, and I'm hooked. Code Red did a session for motorcycles a few times last year. They didn't do any tech, but at least it was serious riders in full gear only. Might be worth checking on.

If you're willing to drive a bit, Pacific Raceways and Oregon Raceway Park are both about 4hrs from Spokane. ORP is a very interesting track. Lots of elevation changes and some really funky curves, but practically no straightaways, so it's almost like exercise. Pacific is a bit more like Spokane - standard with a bit of elevation change and a few sketchy spots in terms of safety. The Ridge is absolutely awesome, but a bit longer drive. Portland is even longer, totally flat, and a bit straightish for bikes IMO. If you're used to Inland Speed, you'll feel right at home with any of the other track day providers in the area.

If you can get a long weekend off, I highly recommend coming over during a WMMRA or OMRRA weekend, doing the track day Friday (usually), and then corner working on Saturday. I've discovered that a 5x8 Uhaul trailer will fit a bike, gear and camping stuffr, and then be tolerable for a night or two of camping in the trailer at the track, and rents for $25 a day. Just a thought.

Code Red just announced that SCR has basically thrown them out as well and that SCR will be doing track days in house. Total bummer. Glad I'm getting a reliable truck next week so I can tow my bike to the tracks on the other side to get my track day fix!

Great. The guys who think putting tar snakes on a racetrack is a good idea are going to be running track days.

Guess a token trip back to ride Spokane is off the agenda this year.

What the crap.

Are they planning on losing all of the motorcycle community's business?

not to deflate our super important ego's but, if there wasn't enough interest to keep 3 days a year rolling with Inland Speed, it's not like they're exactly taking a hit by losing "all" aka "not really that much at all" moto road course business. lotsa moto guys run the strip there a lot. it's the gub'ment, they don't have to care

Ya that sucks, I really wish there were more road course guys around here. What I don't get is the divide between the drag guys and road course guys. If you're into taking your bike to the track, why not do both? I understand you can't take a stretched and lowered busa or zx14 on the road course, but there's still a good amount of "regular" street bikes drag racing that are nowhere to be found on the road course.

I've done my fair share of both road course and drag racing, and both are just ridiculous amounts of fun. Completely different mindsets, but equal thrill. Plus it expands your mind/skill set that much more. Who doesn't want to expand their riding knowledge?

That said, even with all that's gone on between the track and inland speed and code red, I'll still be attending the open road course days. Can't be beat for 85 bucks for a full day or 40 bucks on a wednesday afternoon. Hope to see some of you guys there and support our track. Remember, the track we have now, is MUCH better than no track at all! Drag or road course, I'll be on the black/grey/silver 06 gsxr thou. Come say hi!

See you there!

85 bucks is on Sundays and goes from 10 to 4, so basically a full track day. It looks like the Wednesday nights are no longer happening since code red did those. Shame..

Well that's like the catch 22 isn't it?

How can we stir up interest this season if there isn't a track day to attend?
