Gear

Might as well be butt naked. That's not gear I'd want to hit the pavement wearing.

This looks better suited to trailering the bike and riding around the block...

Don't any of you own a suit, or at least a tweed jacket with suede elbow patches? Geez, the youth these days...

Yea but have you ever chopped down a tree? If you have there is a good chance even if you wear plaid you may not be a hipster!!!

still a joke.

Unless you chopped it down with a vintage axe from the 1920s, in which case you're just an unusually motivated hipster.

Axe technology is one of the very few things that remain refreshingly unchanged from 1920s. Or 1640s for that matter...

Well, there's composite handles, using epoxy to secure the head, better steel and improved design focus on chopping wood since they don't have to do double duty as weapons as often.

FYI... I was totally interested in this. Signed up and everything. But I emailed them and asked if my Indian Chief Vintage (about as classic as a bike can be found) would be ok. They said no.

Maybe I'll show up anyway if, as you say, the rule isn't enforced in Portland, but nonetheless, it sure did leave a bad taste in my mouth.

Im reading this wondering if "dress nice" means filling the streets with a bunch of old bikes in various states of repair with riders of various skill who leave their protective gear at home to look cool for the event?

Sounds like most motorcycle events I've seen, hipsters or no hipsters.

You know, I'm glad everyone has an opinion on the group ride. When you're ready to hop off your high horse, feel free to join us in any upcoming charitable event.

Wait, we're allowed to bring horses? Now we're talking!

Only kidding. Sorry ridethepiggy, I didn't mean to be a wet blanket! We're just jelly because we're not distinguished gentlemen
