Any interest for The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride 2016?

Here is the about page:

https://www.gentlemansride.com/about

I rode in the CDA group in 2014 and had a great time. We have the same host / ride coming up September 25th 2016. I asked the organizer if all bikes are allowed. Normally the DGR limits to retro-styled and/or unique bikes but since our region has limited number of riders that participate in events they were open to anyone.

Charity ride with proceeds going to prostate cancer research.

I'll be there!

DGR is not limited to retro bikes at all... At least not in Portland. Thousands of bikes last year, all kinds of makes and models from every year. I rode my Street Triple.

I think our west coast organizers are much more cool about it.

Their FAQ does state:

I don’t have a Cafe' Racer, Bobber, Classic, Tracker, Scrambler, Old School Chopper, Modern Classic, Sidecar, Classic Scooter, Brat Styled motorcycle?

DGR is about the niches within the motorcycle community, consisting of motorcycles that you do not regularly see during your daily commute. It is not an event for our friends on cruisers, sportbikes, motards, modern plastic scooters, dirt bikes, adventure bikes, tourers and Can-Ams. If you can borrow or rent a suitable bike and are dressed suitably, we encourage you to register and join the ride. If not and you’d still like to support the event, a donation is a wonderful way to do so, as well as reach out to your local organiser to help them behind the scenes.

Sounds like a good ride to take the Truxton R on!

Geeze that statement is enough to keep me away..."not an event for" aren't friendly in my book...isn't dressing up in your Sunday best enough? like last year..I'll head up to the Oyster Run in Anacortes..nobody there cares what kind of bike you're riding..in your Sunday best or not...

In all honestly, if you showed up for the ride, are they going to say you can't go? And if they do then go ride anyways, they can't kick you off the road

I'm sure there are enough like minded folks who will be there who don't give a funk what you're riding, it's for a good cause!

Well yeah but then you've got a bunch of cranky hipsters giving you the stinkeye from out of their retro helmets and impeccably-groomed facial hair.

you can always just send a check to the charity they're supporting and not "intrude" on their gathering with the wrong kind of bike...it's their party with their rules..and I'm quite willing to say "have a good time guys" but I'll ride on my bike were I'm and it's wanted...
at least in Portland..for as far as I know..they aren't uptight like that...

I've always enjoyed making hipsters cranky, that's why I moved to Seattle

(for any existing hipsters out there, I've been chastised for making similar jokes on this forum before, save the bandwith, it's a joke , I've had a beard, heck, I even wore plaid once)

Anybody against setting up our own ride and inviting all types of bikes? I like riding with whoever, I don't care what kind of bike it is

EDIT: Setting up our own ride if the current organizers are against letting non-retro bikes into the mix

  Poor Tortured

my CBR is 20 years old and is officially "retro".

[IMG][/IMG]

But I suppose "dressed suitably" means jeans with the legs cuffed over Timberland boots, a plaid shirt/denim jacket, yard gloves, and a Bell helmet with snaps?

I could head to Goodwill for the gear, but I don't think I have time to grow a logger beard.

I might hit the one in Portland. There's an OMMRA race that weekend and track day on Friday. It would tickle me to go from leathers on the track one day to a kilt on the streets the next.

As several have mentioned. I think the bike restriction applies mainly to places where they have a ton of riders and need to thin the herd so they don't want to cause troubles with the locals or the law. Kinda like the Isle of Vashon. One I went to in CDA a couple years ago, not one shit was given about what you were riding.
