Should be easy depending on which way you go. Hwy 101 may be real slow with campers.

Depends on the "day".
Don't think I'd do it on a weekend. About 180 miles so 4 hours one way on a good day I'd guess.

It'll be 4 hours each way, then factor in how long you want to hang around.

Sunday afternoons you can count on jammed traffic I5 through Nisqually to JBLM.
512 to 167 can get backed up too.

I've done it before but it's a complete work shift worth of stress and you'll feel like it.

leave home @ 4-5am and enjoy lunch on the beach.

On a weekday!!! I've found Thursdays are great for low traffic with hardly any ahem...minders around.

I don't bother with the minders. A riding buddy that goes with me is a retired motorcycle patrolman that still has his helmet and jacket. It's shocking how that combo gets you ignored by other minders.

I don't think so. I'm betting you two are gentlemen who stay under the speed limit :wink

I've been known to do that from time to time, when there is traffic around.

When the roads are empty, I've also been known to push the envelope a bit.

If true I'll bet it's not your buddy's jacket and helmet, it's more likely a little blue star sticker in the correct location on his bike :wink

Look up riding on the beach with heavy bikes. I wish I did before I went to Ocean Shores. It was low tide and the beach looked like it was a half mile wide. I was too afraid of getting sandbogged down on my 550lb bike and didn't try riding out too far. With my bad leg I'd be SOL if I got stuck.

Maybe, but I suspect it's the S.L.C Sherriff patch on his jacket that is more visible.

Finally did the trip on Saturday to the kite festival, sans buddy and his jacket.

Just warning everyone doing that ride, when you get into the area around Raymond, stick to the speed limit. The Raymond officer wrote me up a $134 award for doing 31 in a 30.

Needless to say, my lawyer has the ticket and is going to get it dismissed before raising the issue with WSP and request that they do an investigation. Seems that town might have a history of stopping non-residents, ticketing them for anything they can think of and then throwing the ticket out but charging court costs, if it's contested.

Yup.

I think the court would go something like this:
Judge: One over??? Well, I would hate to have a mark on your driving record so I'll dismiss the ticket.
Me: Thank you your honor.
Judge: Ticket dismissed. Pay the $200.00 court cost on your way out.
Me: ....
