It ain't a phobia to want to avoid a shitty ass section of road that has killed people, it's smart. There are several chunks of road I avoid on a bike. The I-5, highway 16 ramps in Tacoma. I take the long around on a bike for example. But you poor folks stuck in the city haven't always got good choices.

That whole thing is a shitshow going south/west toward kitsap. People in cars always seem to be taken by surprise and behave badly, doing panic lane changes.

Going toward Seattle it isn't as bad, although the merging onto I-5 is insane. It is a bad news thing for bikes. Feels like it would be nice to have a light saber to smack peoples hood with.....

I have had to do a lot of commuting to Seattle for the last couple months. Saw some AMAZING bad driving... One REALLY bad case of 'road rage' and more Tesla's than I have ever seen on the road before. Guess those hills need a 600 hp electric to get up them!!!

Yeah! THAT.

Fear is critically dangerous to riding. If your gripped with fear in that tunnel donít speed it out. You need to understand whatís going on with you. Read a twist of the wrist. Then go practice.

I think I know what you don’t like about that tunnel. I rode it yesterday specifically thinking about this post. That corner was built in the 50s ford big cars to float around. It’s got massive positive camber. You need to practice throttle control and positive camber to flat roads are almost like decreasing radius turns. It’s feels weird coming out. Practice and read friend.

Never knew what that tunnel was called, but I've ridden it plenty. Usually northbound in rush hour, and southbound at night.

I'll actually be sad to see it go. I popped out of the tunnel heading south last Wednesday to see the Great Wheel, Century Link, Safeco, and Mount Rainier lined up at sunset in a postcard perfect picture. I've always thought the view from the Viaduct was one of the best in the city. Not going to get that from the new deep bore.

Iíve since been through the tunnel multiple times (once in the rain) so I feel all is good. Thanks for all of the input (some more helpful than others).

Now letís carry on.
