Ride to black thursday show support for lane splitting

Any body want to ride down to lacey and meet the group for the ride to olympia for black thursday 1-19-17. To show your support for motorcycle regulations. I hope we can get lane splitting approved this year

I live in bothell but we can set one or more meeting places. Looks like the weather probably going to be cold and wet. But that's never stopped me before.

"COC"?! That is an unfortunate acronym, what does it stand for? And while I support lane sharing, I have issues with the "anti-helmet" guys.

I personally will always wear a helmet. That said I don't see why it's our governments job to tell me I have to wear a helmet a seat belt or that I can't drink a LARGE soda.
As for the acronym I'm not sure. But that sentence is says that a huge group of guys is leaving hawks prairie at ten.

Kind of looks like they only want a certain brand of rider there. Wearing colors and all... Shame really.

I've talked to the guy that organizes this. The kind of rider they're looking for is the kind that rides a motorcycle.
Its just that this time of year. Most sports bikes aren't doing anything other than sitting. Same with the olympia toy run but its a charity event. It's predominity Harleys and baggers. But all are welcome cuz it's for the kids. Its for a cause. The more people that show up in support of that cause the better. That's what's important. Not what you ride or how you dress.

Not very inviting when they go out of the way to display their patches for the group photo.

Yes. This picture is pointing a certain direction. But if you noticed. All their patches are different. Not like on huge gang. If you don't have any motorcycle laws that you care to have changed and you don't like guys in cuts than this isn't for you.
But I ride a sport bike. I want lane splitting. So I'm going out in support of that. And I'm hoping to bring as many with me as I can.
I know of a couple guys on this forum that have said they are going.
If you do have an interest you ahouosnt let one picture discourage you.

I've taken the day off for this. I'm planning to go down there in support of lane splitting.

I don't care who I ride with for this, if they ride two or three wheels. If they have patches........great! If it includes those that want freedom to wear a helmet or not, so be it. All I know, if they support lane splitting, I'm in with them.

I'll be coming from Hwy 16, so we can meet in Tacoma, somewhere.

New year. New "session".
And you don't have to ride your bike there to attend.

Because the Legislature (hopefully) isn't in session?

The focus of this event is not protest and making noise, it is to actually meet with your state legislators and have informed, intelligent, and respectful conversations about motorcycling issues.

It is going to be warmer. I'm showing 44 degrees. That's practically shorts and tee shirt weather.

It has to do with the way the legislation works. The lane splitting bill died in the house last year at the end of the session. The new session starts this year on the ninth I believe. The regular session only last 105 days long in an odd year and only 60 days long in an even year. So THATS why. In less than four months nobdy will be there to talk to. And the session will be over

Here is a link if you have any question on our legislative process.
And this isn't a motorcycle rally. It is an event that serves a specific purpose and it's timing is in service of that purpose.
