Ride 6/22 - Neah Bay

I've got a week or so between Spring and Summer quarters, so it must be enough time for a ride.

Meeting at 7:45am in the parking lot for the Sonic Drive-in in Poulsbo, kickstands up at 8. We'll go out via highways 3, 101, and 112, with the return route going past Crescent Lake on 101.

Pace won't be bonkers because it's mid-week, meaning logging trucks are out on 112, and because I'm running semi-knobbies on the Adventure. Everyone is welcome to come along.

Things to be aware of: The Makah tribe has a fee that non-tribe members must pay to be on their property. It's $10/day, so be aware of that when you're calculating your budget. Also, I intend to walk down to the Cape Flattery overlook and spend a few minutes checking the place out. Hopefully you'll do the same.

It's a great ride, but I will be dodging trainees on the motorcycle range that day. Have fun.

Last Monday I went to La Push. On the way home I picked up 113 at Sappho and took it to 112. They are chip sealing 112. On Monday afternoon they had almost made it to Joyce, (from 101). I don't know how far they're going but the flagger told me they were way behind schedule due to rain. (If its raining and the road's not dry they won't work).

Your semi-knobbies may prove useful.

Depending on the chip seal situation I may cut 112 and just go out and back via 101 and just take 113. We'll have at least one new rider with us and i don't want to get him in over his head.

Thought: There's a General Store in Joyce right on 112. You could look up their phone number or the number of their Town Hall, (if they have one) and ask about road conditions a couple days before leaving.

Unless its finished and well swept new riders and bikes with drive belts should probably stay off.

Sounds like fun. I was out to Sierra Trading Post in Silverdale today, and came back WA 3 down through Shelton. Real pretty in between outbursts.
