OK fools, cough it up (i.e. new to the area and need some good roads!)

Hey guys,

I just moved up to Ballard and need some recommendations on where I should start my riding explorations of the area. I searched the interwebz extensively but I'd rather take y'all's word for it.

Looking for good twisty roads with a destination and a view (in that order of importance). I would prefer to keep round trips to under 2-3 hours on average but ideally want a few go-to's for various different types of riding/duration. Bonus points if there is something fun and close so I can get my quick fix when I need it. I'll be on an SV so nothing too goaty unless the destination is worth it.

Don't be shy, make sure to include any and all secret roads as well as your personal favorites so I can get out in front of you this weekend and park it in the corners

Thanks in advance for your life altering revelations which will undoubtedly lead to two-wheeled ecstasy.

(edit for the sake of saving time: NO I do not ride like an idiot, YES I'll let you pass with the quickness if you are. YES I wear gear and I consider myself to be rather UNsquidly. Am I worthy of your knowledge yet?!?!)

Unmmm, kind of goes against the definition of "secret", doesn't it?

I know a spot. More of a loop ride, though. Less than 2.5 miles total once you get there, only 1.5 hours from Seattle. 16 corners, lots of elevation change, decent pavement, and plenty of good runout if you crash.

In Ballard, you are only allowed to ride between cafes!

That said, try the Woodway Park Road to Edmonds waterfront. Or take Greenwood ave to 145th, then Sand Point Way through Arboretum, and to Seward park. Or, take Lake City way to go around the lake to Woodinville or Kirkland. From Woodinville, there are plenty of twisty roads on Eastide. You can go to Duvall, Carnation, and Snoqualmie falls.

Lol, I think I may have heard of that one... And while I can't wait to check The Ridge out and show you guys how slow I am, I don't want to ride nearly track paces nor pay track prices. Just looking for some good roads to get out and ride something other than city roads.

Go east, Padewan.

Fuck all this research. Head out 90 to 18, head towards the falls and get lost in the backroads.

Ballard? Coffee, lutefisk, great burgers? Maybe. But epic riding, seriously?
I moved to Graham, Trail Boss moved to Arlington, awesome riding literally right out of the driveway. Can get a great ride in after dinner, or before work in the morning.
You'll likely spend an hour plus to get to most roads, a few of the nice south routes include, 410 out through Greenwater, Kapowsin highway past NW Trek through Eatonville, Hwy 7 to Randle, Packwood.
Others can shed more light on northern rides. But Hwy 20 is always a hit.

@ liberpolly, I used to bicycle Sandpoint through the Aboretum and along Lake Wash Blvd through Seward Park, great ride!
But note to UpinSmoke, they frown on motorcycles using the bike path!

Yea, I wasn't expecting much in the way of convenience of riding when we made the move. I guess I am still reeling from that sacrifice.

Thanks for the suggestions. Got my plates yesterday so I'll be out there exploring shortly.

I'll give a little secret. You ride 15 minutes North, catch the Edmonds/Kingston ferry for a 30 min ride to the Peninsula and............... Voila, a lot of great riding!
Or come over and meet up with the peninsula group when we get them posted.

Don't tell anybody else
