Anyone know the date for the Isle of Vashon this year? Would love to ride over with my daughter and son-in-law.

I believe it is a secret - unless you are in the IN crowd...

I know that it's revealed to club members, but that club members can tell who they want.

Not if they want to stay members and continue to be able to have their event.
The VME has been told, for many years, if it gets too big, no more event.
It's not a public event. It's a Club event.
If you want to go, go join the VME
Let me know and I'll get you contact info

Considering I don't have a vintage bike, and I was only interested in seeing the Isle of Vashon, I think that joining a club and paying a membership fee seems a bit much.

Vintage ownership is not required, but I get it.
Most folks don't understand, it's not a "Public" event. Not by club choice, but pretty much mandated by the police.

If they wanted to open it to the public, they would be required to pay for extra police, port-a-potties, trash collection points and post event cleanup crews. They would also need to coordinate with the state ferries for the extra traffic. Once they show the plan for all of that to the VBA and get them to approve it, they get the permits to make it public.

The hoops you have to put up with in the planning along with the cost make it so prohibitive that most groups just make them "private" events.

From the horses mouth..

Years ago when the event was promoted outside the club the Island was overrun with non-members and non-participants who, in many cases, saw this "Old Bike Rally" as an excuse to flagrantly break the law and thereby endanger the event.

Thus the "secret" date, although the date is really not secret. It is, however the property of the membership of the VME, the sanctioning body of the "TT". Release of the date to the membership is all that has been authorized by the club due to the negative effects discussed earlier. Whether a member wishes to release the date further is subject to their discretion although the club believes that the membership, by and large, supports the current policy and applies proper discretion when releasing the date to non-members.

See, that's what I read too. That members could tell people, just not to random people or post it on social media.

This is why we can not have nice things...
It only takes a couple knuckle heads to screw up a good thing. Or one.
