I'm looking to organize a ride to St helens or rainier.

I don't know the good routes so if someone wants to take point on this. I'm waiting to see how many people are interested. And set a date about a week out, weather permitting. Maybe even take a day off work, I'd almost prefer it. But I'd like to get a some people to commit first.
And as far as a meet up point I'm good with anything between south everett like 12th to the industrial district in Seattle. Outdoor emporium seemed to work well for St helens at the beginning of the month.

If Saturday wasn't looking so wet down there, I'd rearrange my schedule. Sunday is looking decent, but I already have plans.

As I recall, you're relatively new to the area, so here's the scoop:

St. Helens could be fun; you could see the other viewpoint. It's not nearly as nice as Johnston Ridge though. The ride up is slower and through trees, and a good portion of the road at the bottom has terrible potholes that sneak up on you. I like the last couple miles to the top where you're riding some nice twisties with a sheer cliff to the left. Despite the pothole caveats, this is a really nice ride.

Rainier is always nice. Hit the Sunrise visitor center, then Naches Peak, and finally Paradise with all the rest of the tour buses.

Elbe Tavern has the best food I've found in Elbe. While that wouldn't take much, the Tavern's food is really pretty good.

I've lived in Washington my whole 30 years. But all my Adventures have been up north or east of the mountains. But ya anything south of tacoma I'm pretty new to.
But cool thanks for the info. I'm hoping I can get some traction on this.

As it relates to the southern end of the cascade foothills. One would be relatively correct, by assuming that i am new, relative to the afore mentioned area.

Ya. So the way I see this going down, is we get some interest, and once we've got a few guys we pick a destination. Then look at the weather forcast and pick a date based on the weather. If it's an issue than can go for a weekday if needed.

If you guys take 504 to get to Johnston Ridge I might come up from the south, depending on the day. Something like they did earlier this month.

Yeah I went on that ride. That's why I want to do it again. That was a lot of firsts for me. First time to St helens. First group ride. And first long ride for the new bike.
