Weekend fun in Northern California

My friends Gregg, his girlfriend Terri and I went down to see friends in Redding California over the weekend. I beat Gregg and Terri to Tyler & Cindy's place Friday so Tyler and I took a run up to Gilman Road off I-5 by Lake Shasta. Nice road and a good way to start the weekend. Saturday morning the gang was assembled and ready to ride.

Left to right: Cindy, Terri Tyler and Gregg

We slabbed it down to Red Bluff for fuel before hitting hwy 36 west of I-5. Cindy's Zephyr developed a oil leak around the base gasket so it got parked and she and Tyler rode two up the rest of the day. Tyler's fiend also showed up on his FZ1 but before the fun began, I had to get the obligatory road sign pic's.

We stopped for lunch at the Platina store, then had our fun on the repaved section between Wildwood and Hwy 3.

Break time before heading back down the hill.

On Sunday, Tyler broke out his FJR and lead us on a day journey. I couldn't tell you all the roads we hit but some of them I recall were Hwy 36 east of I-5, hwy 44, hwy 70 and hwy 32.

The group at a overlook along 36 if I remember correctly.

Old barn along hwy 36.

Taking a break along hwy 70.

On Monday Gregg and Terri headed for home. Me? I had one more ride left in me before I headed for home . Tyler and his friends Mike and Ronnie showed me some of the back roads between Redding and Shingletown.

Good friends, great roads and sunshine. Doesn't get any better than that!

Awesome! Thanks for sharing! Miss that area. Used to go down to Laguna for Moto GP and what started as 2 days down turned into 4-5 days down because of how great Northern CA roads are!

You can get fuel at the Platina store if needed or detour over hwy 3 to Hayfork.
