Road Report: FS-48/Wamic Rd. - Now Open
Just wanted to give a heads up that FS-48 is now open.
I went for a "Wander-About Ride" yesterday, and ended up on HWY 35. I came up to the FS-48 Rd Jct, thought about it, and said to myself: Why not. So, off to Tygh Valley I went.
Surprisingly, the road is in very good shape (roughly same condition as last year).
With the exception of the HWY 35/FS-48 Rd Jct, the road is very clean. There is a little damage in a few spots, but most of it is easily avoided (speed dependent), and no worse than pictured below.
Damage is in West bound lane.
Also, the road construction on the twisty grade above Tygh Valley has been completed. There is now new pavement for most of the upper grade.
I can't give any first hand info about the west-bound lane, as I took another route back (218, 19, 206, etc.) Until someone can give a first hand account, I would still advise a modicum of caution if traveling in that lane. In prior years, it was the lane with typically the most severe damage. Even last year it was still a little bumpy in spots.
