The truck video definitely does show a different perspective, as well as a lot of missing information. With that being said...

Smokey? Regardless of whether your decisions in this incident where good or bad, I'm still glad that your OK, and hope that you'll be back on two without too much delay.

Holy cow, that dash cam from the semi spells it out pretty clear. I don't wish the worst of any motorcyclist, but we need to act with a bit more clarity, again, one lucky dude. Wonder how long this will take before going viral, you don't see one landing on the back of a car very often, even then the out come usually ain't great.

Glad you're ok.

Granted he didn't have brakes lights, but I'm in the boat you got brake checked. Just looking off the semi truck video (I'm late to the party) look how hard he brakes not to rearend that car but you see no lights. Unless the car in front is a sleeper and that guy decided to gun it at that exact moment, the guy you hit hit his brakes. Their speed was matched, then it wasn't.

Simple point, he didn't have brake lights. I can see yours, you where slowing, then he hit his at about the same time. Maybe intentional, maybe just realized he was riding someone's ass.

But I'm no jury.

Glad you're ok. Still sucks, but glad you're ok.

(And we've all chased down an A-hole driver before. We've all been that pissed. Granted we shouldn't, but I can't give you crap for doing it.)

You can see his left brake light come on at about 27 seconds into the video. I don't see a right brake light.

Hard to tell in the film, lights or no lights he slowed down decently. Seen enough people around here with no brake lights to not have that void weather or not he did. That speed difference though can't be argued, maybe it was just a hard engine brake, I dunno, all I got is a youtube video.

Regardless. Doesn't matter what I think on it. Any accident can be avoided, any one can say what they would have done when resting at a computer not riled up from almost being hit, it's easier to see after the fact. I could say you shouldn't have done this or that and be technically right ... but I think anyone true to themselves would admit at least once chasing down someone who almost hit you. It's half the fun.

Moot point. Can't really side with a guy who drives like that without a licence, insurance and a DUI. That's the trifecta right there.

Personally I'm impressed you didn't hit him Smokey. Glad you're ok.

I think I saw what you did, but I'm not sure I agree that it is his brake light. If it was the brake light, it is incredibly dim. I wonder if what is being perceived as the left brake light is actually a reflection of sunlight off the tail lights reflector. Smokey's video shows clear lenses on the innermost part of the tail light assemblies. Additionally, if the Acura had legal working brake lights, I would expect to have seen them when the car pulled over to stop, but I'm not seeing them. You can see the turn signal/hazard lights activate, but even they are on the dim side as well.

How do we know he was DUI, had no license and no insurance? Smokeys' story is full of holes at this point.

All I see is an idiot on a motorcycle slamming into the back of a car and then yelling at him.

Sorry for the accident whoever fault it is.
Looks like two parties making poor choices at the same time came together. Both are responsible for causing the accident.
If Smokey got on the freeway moments later, nothing would have happened.

Seems to me these type of things always happen when someone is running a video while riding or driving.
It's almost as if having the camera, causes accidents to happen, or so it seems.

If folks just go about their business without trying to document it, maybe less would happen and the day would be just ordinary same old.

No, this shit happens all the time.. but without video it doesn't get noticed.
I really want a camera in my vehicles after a close call last week.

I'm driving a stretch of road near my home for the 799th time. At an intersection I see a truck on the right, waiting for the intersection to be clear and an SUV approaching me in his left turn lane. The SUV starts to turn and comes into my lane about 4 feet before stopping. (He must have thought I had a stop sign, but I didn't) I'm doing 30-35MPH and have about 1 second before hitting the SUV head-on. There is maybe 10 feet between the two vehicles and my car is 7.5 feet wide. Without thinking, I swerved right, then left, and somehow fit between the two vehicles without contact.

If I had hit the truck on the right, I might have been found at fault without video proof of what happened.

This is why so many Russians have video cameras in their cars. Too much insanity on the roadways.

I have good news for you Smokey..

There are many offers to buy the truckers video. You will likely be featured in someones compilation of "motorcycle crashes".

It is just a little bit entertaining to watch you hit the Acura and then stick the landing on his trunk..

You'll have to keep practicing to beat this guy.. (Queue Spider man music..)

More crazy news.. I just received an offer for $250 to sell your video. I can't/won't accept it as they want me to certify that I recorded it (I didn't), but if you PM me, i'll put you in contact with them.

As they say, "when life gives you lemons..."

Smokey's video should be killed dead and buried. It conveys a good deal of potential liability. Too late now, however.

Poor rider judgement.
Poor driver judgement.
Granite ≠ Granted. Know the difference.
This thread is so bad in so many ways.
The only one who wins is the truck driver for keeping the two individuals safe at the scene of the incident and for having good dash cam video.
