Well, I have heard stories, and seen video's, but today I saw it in person. I came into Renton and was sitting at the main light when a motorcyclist making a left turn onto 167 was texting with his phone in his left hand while moving and mid turn. In traffic. Wow...

Follow the money!
I like the $1,000 fine for the first offense but second impound the vehicle and the third they loose their license AND the vehicle they are driving is confiscated to be sold at auction.

And it's crazy how flippant they are, You honk and motion for them to hang up and you get the bird.

When we were walking from the the parking lot to the PDX Motorcycle Film Festival there was a gal with her window rolled down and she was texting, I yelled "hey, hang up and drive". She flipped me of and yelled back "I'm not hurting anyone". I yelled back "Not yet".

Being a truck driver I like others have seen it all.....until I've seen now multiple drivers....face timing. I can't believe it either. Either they are taking a extended selfie while talking to themselves or they are talking to someone else via FaceTime. Add to that the countless people reading books, papers and newspapers.

I drive a semi and see this every day! Seems like people more concerned about the next FB post or text msg than paying attention to what's coming at them doing 60mph... Sitting 8ft in the air, yep, I see it all. Most drivers have their phones on their laps doing this stuff. Several times I've been tempted to blast my horn while I see them texting, but realized I'd only make matters worse by scaring the hell out of them.

Just seems like people aren't afraid of the outcome. What to do, harsher penalties and fines???

My favorite phone story: An hour or so after sunset I pulled up to make a signal controlled left turn, second in line behind large SUV. Can easily see the driver (the only occupant) playing a game on her phone, which she is conveniently holding up where I can see the lit screen. Waiting for the light, which I know well (notoriously quick to change back to red when there is much traffic). Finally get our green....and wait....and wait....and did wait some more. After a five count I give her a small toot of my admittedly loud horn.

Iphones, when tossed sideways and up from a drivers hand, make a neat looking, almost parabolic, arc as the spin into the passenger footwell...

I'm a little surprised she didn't flip you off.

That's what I've gotten multiple times recently when I've given people a short wake up tap on the horn when they were sleeping through a green light.
