Hippo hands have gotten slightly more attractive in the last few years......good to see they'll mount over my barkbusters too. Still probably won't toss my Elkskin heated Gordon's though, they was an XMas present year before last.

just got back from a ride to gig harbor. went out for an espresso. 37 degrees and a few snowflakes (frozen water, not fragile people). i'm in for the day though. it was starting to get squirrely. there's a lot of moss around. seems like more than normal. anyone else notice that?

I got out for a ride this morning. 42* and a little breezy. Rode for about an hour; any more and it would have been a bit too much. Numb fingers and toes, mainly.

For the next two weeks the weather is going to be wet, nasty and icy/snowy, so I figured today was the last chance for quite a while. I'm glad I got out on the last good day (for a while).

Yesterday's sparkling if frosty weather left me wishing I'd ridden, so I went ahead and did today. My only mistake was wearing a 3/4 helmet and skipping the neck gaiter. Froze m'lips off.

Saw someone on north 405 just outside Renton about 9:15 this morning. Full gear and going real slow, probably because traffic was crawling past the WSP on the side of the road.

One thing that occurred to me during the morning commute -- it really was stinking cold -- is that at speed at very low temperatures, the bar end weights are a massive heat sink sticking right out into the wind and give the heated grips a lot more work to do. I'm wondering if wrapping some adhesive insulating tape around them in the winter would make the grip heaters more effective at 28 degrees and 60 mph.

On my old V-Strom ISTR the bar end weights were held in by an expanding rubber plug, but on the BMW the big center screw is threaded directly into metal, which is going to conduct heat and wick it away like a sonovabitch.

neighbor got his quad out and brapped around the 'hood today. perfect snow vehicle. if only the State would be be less of a bitch, we could have some really cool/useful vehicles and not be locked-in when it snows because our big-ass government-approved vehicles weren't so big and lame and useless.
