Don't want to talk politics, but ...

Just got back from a great ride in Canada. My GPS software switching to kilometers when we got into Canada, but refused to turn back to miles when we got into Washington. I didn't know phones had opinions!

Call Seattle's favorite city council member Kshama Sawant to start a protest over the separation of metric and American standard smart phone measurement software or apps.

There are two types of countries in the world:

Those that use the metric system,

And the other that has sent men to the moon and brought them safely back to earth.

You'll be fine... Just multiply by .62; it'll be close enough.

HOWEVER,

- The U.S. did make a goof with one of the Mars explorers because they mixed metric and Imperial units, resulting in loss of the spaceship.

- In Kenya, the metric system is used generally, but property is still sold in acres.

- In Great Britain people still measure speed in mph. I suppose it's the older generation, but still...

- When we had lunch in Hope, BC, we asked how much it snowed there, expecting an answer in meters. The answer was: "a couple of feet".

My favorite part of the metric system in Canada was that we could generally rely on curve speed warning signs that gave suggested kph limits to mean that we could use mph in the curves safely.
