Went.

Almost no line at the Paradise gate.
Mostly zoomed up and down.
When I was leaving at 10:30 ish the line for entry was a mile long.
There must be a gravitational anomaly up there or something because it seems like its a bit more work to hustle up and back than it used to be.
210 miles before 13:00 including a long espresso/cookie stop on the way home.
Tired as fek.
Excellent ride.
(getting chilly up there. it was low clouds and maybe 45 degrees at the top. go now, if ur gonna)

I went the other way. I checked out the High Steel Bridge and Spider Lake in the Olympics.

Went to Baker. Always gotta leave before sun comes up to beat traffic otherwise you might as well take the car.

The Ninja 1000 is a solid bike. I had a GPZ1100 for years and did a lot of sport touring with a friend that had a ninja 1000. Did you already replace your bike? What are you riding now?

I have not replaced it yet.

I am going to get a KLR650.

I've lived here since 1991 and I've ridden everywhere there is to ride.

So I want to open up some new rides, and there are a LOT of dirt roads around here, some with some pretty good views I hear.

Not gonna try anything technical, just fire roads and the like.

I have a KLR. If you do buy one I suggest you visit this site for all your KLR needs.

Depending on the year your will buy, there are all sorts of issues with some like the 08's and 09's. And ALL need the Doohickey mod regardless of the year. And the thermobob mod.

YOu know, if there was an option instead of the klr i'd look at it. i don't like having to "fix" a new bike.

but im not spending 12000 on a dirt bike (talking to YOU ktm).

Then buy a new 2017-18 and be good to go. It will still need the doohickey and thermobob BTW.

That's what I said,so I bought a brand new 2017 holdover Ktm 690 enduro in March of 2018 for $8499, had to drive to Kennewick to pick it up but it was worth the $3000 savings if I were to buy it here in Olympia, they wouldn't even talk about taking anything off their $11,999 price. Love my 690,way lighter, fuel injected. Nothing wrong with a KLR but they are heavy,I assure you,you won't be doing this with a KLR.

While shopping compare it to a DR650 and the KTM. Cliff's carries both.

This is a tricky move.
I've always been a street racer kinda rider, NInjas and shit, and that is exactly what I want to move away from.
The KLR is a pig fosho, but that KTM is so damn expensive. Even a used 690 Enduro is almost 10k.
I am not really a fan of the DR650. Honestly, it's kinda clunky. I know - so's the klr.
XR650L?
I would love to find a good used 990ADV but they all have super hi miles or are bigass bucks.
What's a person to do?

You can find KTM 690s for $6000 easily. I thought there just was a low mileage one on Craigslist recently. Like I said I got my 2017 brand new for $8499
