You ALL missed the Best Ride Ever. I had 101 all to myself, all the way around. Rode from PO to PT to Hoodsport to Belfair to PO.

Had a sammie at the PT fo-od co-op and an espresso at Hoodsport Ice Cream shop.

The C14 is The Boss.

So. Nice.

I was actually laughing out loud at how nice it was, how little traffic there was, how pleasant and zen my ride was.

Max speed 136 (closed course, professional rider).

Saw a few other riders. Very few.

Where the heck IS everyone?

Now I'm home in time to mow the lawn.

Woot.

Photo for illustration purposes only. It was LIKE this, but not this.

Anyone going out today?

I was thinking of doing an espresso tour.

Ferry from PO to West Sea to here:

Uptown Espresso | Home of the Velvet Foam in the West Seattle Junction

Then......?

Went. It was great.

I can now personally verify thaat Kawasaki's abs/tcs is full-on HAL9000 badass Skynet kinda voodoo ass-saving alien tekk.

I hopped off 410 onto 123 and ducked around the first little section as usual, thinking how cool and shiny everything was when BLAM - I am riding on ice. Black ice. White ice. Oh, and sand. All at once.

My mind screamed "DO SOMETHING" but my been-there-done-that angel said "DO NOTHING" and i let the angel win for once.

so rolled of the throttle but i was going downhill on a heavy bike and around shady ice curves of heck and trying to stay zen but i had to use the front brake eventually and it was super cool, although unnerving at first, to feel the bike keeping us upright. i could feel the vibration of the abs working.

once i got turned around i had to ride back uphill through that same ice. i was going first and second gear, just above idle, and I could feel the tcs kicking in on and off keeping the rear wheel from spinning out. it was pretty odd to feel, a bit like skating.

once i got back on 410 i had the whole road to myself all the way down into town. it was 36 degrees at the top and 46 at the bottom.

heated grips!!!!!

Agree. I don't see how people ride this time of year without them.

Gloves. Good gloves.

I just wish they'd come up with a fix for the way riding pants shrink during the winter.

One more hooray for HEATED GRIPS!

WarpShatner7 Jan 7th 2019 03:21 PM

A short while ago I was paced for a couple of miles in the Hawthorne/Buckman area of Portland by a fairly loud debadged black '80s Virago ridden by a woman wearing leggings and a black sleeveless jacket that had something like "WELL FUCKED" spelled out in metallic letters on the back. Mirrored visor so no eye contact, not sure if she was keeping pace on purpose or the traffic just worked out that way.

Yeah, not the first time I've regretted not using a helmet cam lately. Hell, I thought maybe someone here would know her.

Preferably hooked into a nice toasty warm n safe jacket liner. There’s a reason Tigger has such a HUGE alternator besides aux lights and a love for rectifiers.

I don't see many of these around any more, seems like it was maybe an '80's thing?

edit: i checked. they live!

I might get some of these for the C14 (heated grips plus zero wind? should work with summer gloves) -
