2016 Kamiah trip

Another great trip to Kamiah, put on by Steve (mcrider007). Mark (Redliter) and I met Pete (MrTwister) and his crew in Tri-Cities Saturday morning, and rode with them to Kamiah. We cut Elk City out because of rain, but other than that Saturday was a great day of riding.

Lunch in Lewiston:

Waiting out the rain before we decided to head back to Kamiah instead of going on to Elk City.

Arrived in Kamiah. Another good group.

Sunday, Mark and I headed out with Pete, Willy, and Dan. We parted ways in Elgin, after going over Rattle Snake Pass.

Mark and I headed on to Baker City, and then over Dooley Mountain to make our annual visit and pay respects to our friend Mikefsu's memorial where he lost his life in 2012. Dooley mountain is all burned out on both sides of the mountain. Kind of weird to see how open up it is now.

Then we headed on to Condon. Stopped in Dayville hoping for gas. They had one gas station, but it closed at 7pm, and it was like 5 minutes after 7pm. The girl came out and asked us if we needed gas, and opened the pump for us to top off our tanks. Very accommodating. We made it to Condon about 9:30pm and my gas light just came on about 5 miles out. These are on our way to Condon via Hwy 19, 207, 206.

Cathedral Mountain:

Best sunset ever along 207

Killed a few bugs between Dayville and Condon:

Monday morning headed on to Bremerton via Carson, Wind River, Cougar. I always need to include Wind River, especially with that new pavement. Best time to ride this road is on a week day, you fill like it's all yours
Following Mark:

Always need to make a stop here when it's a clear day, to view Mt. St Helens

Some odds and ends to recap:
3 Days of riding, and no tickets, but saw a record number of LEO's over the course of the trip. Met two other riders, in John Day, on their last leg of a 1000 mile ride in one day. I think they said they were from Eugene, OR, and had started out at 4:30am that morning. Saw lot's of deer.
Saturday road about 510 miles, Sunday about 525 miles and Monday about 350 miles.

Might have to do mcriders007 fall meet-up in Baker City. Lot's of good roads out that away, and.................WARMER at that time of year.

That was me & my buddy RickRick. We didn't make good time like we had hoped. We sat there at the fuel station in John Day for quite some time trying to figure out how best to get home from there. It was too late in the day to try & finish our planned route through Pendleton. We ended up going to Prineville, then Portland & then back down to Corvallis/Eugene. I got home around 0315.

It was nice meeting both of you there. It's always a good time finding & visiting with fellow travelers.

In the end we did it. My official time/distance was 1,073 miles in 23 hours 8 minutes (on a Daytona 675 no less). Like I said, we didn't make very good time at all. Really started to slow down later in the day.

One of us will try writing up a report on the experience, but for now, I'll leave you with route & some useless stats if you're wondering how it went for us.

Thanks Brad for posting your ride. You guys are definitely die hards to ride sportbikes that many miles on that many twisty roads. Once again it was good riding you guys. You two definitely need to come down for the Baker ride at the end of the Summer. Until then.
