I have a two-year-old daughter that likes to wake up at 5am. I'm an 8-hour-a-night guy. What was I thinking?

Was a perfect day and a better ride. A fellow on an SP3 passed me on 47 in a way that screamed “chase me!”

I am in SW Portland, Multnomah Village.

I tend to do rides meeting at Sylvan to jump on Skyline Drive because it is close and there is little traffic getting there for me.

But, I like rides to the coast, or the east side out the Gorge or over the mountain, or south to Detroit Lake and beyond.

I miss Lee’s encyclopedic knowledge of rides on the east side.

I did the same ride today, but this time Redbeard joined.

His engine bolt/frame slider bolt came loose and so we went to Vernonia to find an Allen wrench to tighten it. All three hardware stores were closed, though.

So, we pulled up at the Blue House Cafe where there were some sportbikers parked. They had no 6MM wrench either.

Just as I was about to go inside the restaurant to see if they had any tools, a waiter came out with a complete set of metric Allen wrenches and said, “Japanese bikes, right?”

An essential worker who is also either clairvoyant or an eaves-dropping angel.

Pretty amazing world.

And, amazing road, that 47, both directions.

I did a little solo ride from Rocky Butte out to Sauvie Island and back. I'm still using the gas that came in the tank when I bought the bike... but it feels so RIGHT! I'll be ready for a fun ride soon.
