The Wednesday Westside Standing Ride is back! Starting Wednesday, June 5, 2019 and running EVERY Wednesday through September there will be a group ride on the Westside.

Details:

Where: Sylvan/26 Chevron at 1850 SW Skyline Blvd, Portland - park along the yellow striped area next to the adjacent parking lot - please do not occupy the handicap parking space or adjacent striped area.

When: Wednesdays meet @ 5:30, kick stands up @ 6.

Who: Intermediate riders and above - sorry no beginners.

Pace: Moderate to fast, fast in the corners slow in the straights, nobody left behind.

Route: TBD by leader depending upon group and the ride usually runs until dark and ends with dinner and beverages.

There will be a designated sweep rider on every ride, but it is your responsibility to ride safe. Ride your own ride. Optional safety gear is encouraged but not required. Should you choose to leave the ride for any reason you must check out with the sweep or one of the ride leaders.

At least one, if not all, of the ride leaders will be present each week.

Riders who have riding experience and are interested in improving their cornering skills are encouraged to come out and participate as weekly riders. Weekly riders have historically shown significant improvement over the course of the season. You don't have to already be fast to come on this ride, but if you don't like going fast this ride is probably not for you.

So if it's Wednesday come on out and join the Westsiders!

Last Wednesday we beat the heat with an Astoria run!

As most everyone knows, Cornelius Pass will be closed for the next several weeks. Because of the closure, vehicular traffic on Skyline, Newberry, and Rocky Point are significantly increased.

The Wednesday Ride will continue throughout the closure, but we will be taking appropriate precautions and route modifications as needed.

All riders on Skyline need to be mindful of increased oncoming traffic and will need to be extra careful about passing and cars making left turns and otherwise pulling out in front of them.

I'm sure that you all noticed the change in the weather and the increase in pumpkin latte sales.

Accordingly, the last "Standing Wednesday Westside Ride" is today. Sorry for the short notice.

The Wednesday Ride will now continue on a week-to-week basis, with different meet spots and times.
