road condition of hwy 206 Condon to Heppner

I've been trying to plan a ride out that way...neither Google or Rever will allow me to take 206 straight out of Condon to Heppner...they both redirect to Cayuse Canyon..which appears to be gravel...anyone have some information on this route...my ride date is May 4th...
thanks

206 to Heppner is all paved and a lot of fun.

Follow the signs past the school in Condon and head east. Fork left at the Lonerock cutoff and go through Rock Creek Canyon. Keep heading east over Hardman Ridge down to Ruggs. At Ruggs 206 changes to 207 and heads east to Heppner.

Lots of sweepers and wide-open road.

It's weird, I get the same thing: there's a two mile stretch of 206 starting about 8 miles East of Condon that Google maps will not let me plot a route through. So it's a question of whether they know something about that section (and that something is up to date) or it's a glitch in their data. I see nothing on ODOT about it, apart from the chipsealing project last summer.

If the weather holds, within two or three weeks OR 207 (4612' summit) should be clean enought for a ride. Perhaps some of The Dalles riders will stretch a "Fossil Run" out to Spray and Hardman so we can check it out.

Stay tuned.

ODOT reported a washout (at least one or two creeks overflowed) in that area a few months ago on the Tripcheck website. It may be that Google Maps may have not been updated since, to reflect the road has been reopened.

I think Lewis and Clark were the last travelers, in that area.

Bing plotted that route when Google would not.

I rode 206 from heppner to condon today and it was fine. The bottom of the canyon had some dirt over it from the creek but it was easily passable

It's fun road

It's a good road Chad. Enjoy. But don't take rd. 53 from Heppner to Ukiah for it will not be open yet. Take hwy 74 from Heppner to Pilot Rock. Then head north to Pendleton. If it was me, I'd head north on hwy 11 and take hwy 204 over Tolgate to Eglin. Then head to Enterprise and go north on hwy 3 to Rattlesnake Grade. You can figure out the rest of the way from there. See you at Kamiah.

Do you know if 53 is open now? I'm planning a ride back from Baker City and would prefer that route.

Wasn't there a motorcycle(s) fatality out there over the holiday weekend? Some kind of over-night group ride? I thought I heard something on the local news that a couple of riders were killed when a cager crossed the center line and took out a couple of riders and their bikes. I hope I'm wrong. I think it was after dark?...
