What's the difference between a Dyno Tune and a ECU Flash?

dyno tune on most bikes involves a piggy back device, power commander/bazzaz unit etc and is just going to be fueling/ignition adjustments, while an ecu flash changes the settings inside the ecu, removing limitations, restrictions etc while also optimizing fuel, timing etc but to a higher level of detail creating an even better tune.

Glad to meet you and hang out during the raining day!

So we spent the entire day with 2 Wheel DynoWorks yesterday working on four bikes. The results were simply unbelievable and the level of engagement and professionalism by Nels and Pat were those rarely found anymore in shops. What kind of results did we get?

2006 GSXR450 conversion saw a 30hp improvement with 72hp/42ft/lbs torque tuned on U4.4. Oh she is going to run!

2011 R1 added 20hp to 172hp/68lb/ft torque on MR12.

2006 GSXR 750 Nels pulled an additional 12 hp for 132hp/68ft/lb torque. The biggy on this bike was calming down an out of wack fuel mapping.

The final bike a 2003 SV1000 was looking solid till we found the fuel pump failed so we will have numbers posted in the next couple of weeks with a new pump and tune completed by Nels.

If you are taking the time to race, why leave performance on the table when Nels can pull out of your existing bike power that is hiding.

Any limitations or exclusions on ECU flashing? Any makes/models that have issues or can any Japanese ECU be flashed?

If you look on ECU Unleashed website, the listing is on there.....or was it Flash Tune. One or the other, they're both about the same.

the fz1 flash nels put into my bike is amazing, transforms the bike completely

what bikes are you referring to? some bikes don't benefit from a flash as they may be too old or, there are just no software limitations in them. almost any japanese bike will benefit from an ecu flash.

ECUnleashed is one of about a dozen different flashing softwares and companies nels uses to tune bikes. he uses whatever will get your bike the best results, for some that may be ECUnleashed, another TuneECU, or Woolich, Flashtune etc.

Very much worth it for the Fazer. I did the ECU flash and had him tune my PCIII and it is a completely new bike. I'm not sure if I'll every get rid of it.... well maybe for a MT-10.

I have a 2015 KTM 1190 R. Would the ecu flash help the heat problem during the summer? Make it run cooler?
