The One Moto Show - February 10-12, 2017

It's coming up! Maybe we won't have snow at the time, because it's always as much fun to check out the bikes outside as it is inside.

Looks like a new location this year:

I was looking forward to this, but I was disappointed last year...I think the BMW sponsorship hurt it....

I like to see one-off custom bikes from custom builders. I suppose the time and money involved is making it more difficult each year to create these bikes... You can only build so many custom Harley's...

But I'd like to see the 1M show remain creative and unique, and I hope they can accomplish that this year... ;

Not a big fan of the new location. Regardless of what they want to say (on their website) about parking being "available in the adjacent neighborhood to the East", I really wouldn't characterize that area as offering a lot of safe and convenient places to park. Some of the side streets on the South side of Columbia BLVD aren't well maintained and only one or two offer good curb side or parallel parking. There are more options on the North side of Columbia BLVD, but the closest cross walk is to the East at the Vancouver Ave Intersection. That isn't to imply that folks won't be able to safely cross Columbia closer to the show venue, but traffic on that section of Columbia typically moves at a faster pace, especially as traffic "jockeys for position" both approaching and exiting the I-5 on/off ramp (in particular, to the East of the intersection where people will want to cross).

Additionally, unless they are going to allow bikes to park adjacent to the building, it may not be worthwhile to ride to the show. The closest curbside parking is on the side street to the East, and the amount of curbside parking there is very limited.

Thanks for that. Hopefully an allowance will be made. Or I'll just wait for the aftershow pics to show up.

Awesome event no matter where it's at. Too bad about it not being held at the last venue. But unless there is a bar or two close by, they better stock up on beer...

This may be the first time outside of the big snowstorm a few years back where I don't attend. This looks like a parking nightmare that I don't wish to be a part of. Last year was bad enough with having to wait for a couple hours and that was on a Friday night when it's always been quick and easy to get inside. I wasn't as impressed with the bikes last year either. Not enough unique builds and too many chopper and cruisers. This show may have jumped the shark for me- we'll see...
Oh yeah, and I have NO desire to be anywhere the Gypsy Jokers are regardless of whether they're polite or not. Btw, they were AFAIK.
Nope, not going this year. Your tax dollars are sending me to Alabama for a week.

I use that I5 exit frequently and I can't imagine what they are talking about in terms of parking in a "neighborhood" and it's not a pedestrian friendly area as pretty much everyone hauls ass on N Columbia. And this year looks to be Harley focused as Harley Davidson is a focused sponsor on the sign posted on the building.

I wonder if the same thing happened with this show as it did with the Alley Sweeper - grass roots fun that got too popular for it's own good.

There is lots of parking in two lots plus the little side street. It's just not very visible from Columbia but there should be no need to cross it. I am curious how this will turn out.

Thanks Lena.

Got a "map" pic of where this parking is located?

Any reports from the first day of the show?

I'm thinking of riding down for Sunday; I've never been to the One Moto.

Just as many hipster vendors as motorcycles this year. Didn't seem like there were as many mc's this year either, but it could have been the layout and more room. Fortunately, it wasn't raining so I rode and parked in the lot. Ride your motorcycle for sure otherwise you'll be walking for half a mile. Some really nice older BMW's and vintage bikes, but about 1/3 of the bikes are some variation of HD/chopper.

  Here

I haven't had a cilantro and quinoa latte served to me by a guy in a Hillbilly Hare beard in what feels like hours. It's nice out for once and Columbia Blvd isn't far from here, at least as measured in traffic lights; maybe I'll ATGATT up and at least scope the perimeter.

Edit: Stopped in for about an hour at 1:30 or so. Long line but it moved fast. Plenty of motorcycle parking on site and plenty of interesting bikes parked in it. I actually had more fun out there talking to people -- inside the show it was a little too mobbed for that, (aside: why the hell do some people bring their dogs to things like this?) and at least in the lot you know you're actually talking to a rider. Best bikes on the 2nd floor, so don't miss it: if you go by the signs you'll get the impression it's just the bar and the bathroom up there. I'd half expected a lot of new dealer "filler" bikes and promos but there aren't many of those. Top marks for the funky-ass old industrial building; can't fault that at all.
