Lack of PIR trackdays??

Whatís up with the lack of track days at PIR this year motor Corso has three, 2fast has zero scheduled? Am i missing something? Portland is so convient for me, its hard for me to add several hours drive time to and from other tracks.

OPRT is running Friday before every OMRRA round. If OMRRA runs the chicane, they do too (unless you're in the fast group). It's mostly racers getting in extra practice, especially in the intermediate/advanced groups. Advanced is supposed to be 1:18 or faster, so don't sign up for that unless you can hang with the big boys.

1:15 or faster*

Other than that the rest is correct.

PIR has been a struggle for a decade. There aren't enough riders to support it, hence PSSR closed and no one else stepped in to fill the days. If people want PIR to thrive, they gotta get more riders to come to the track.

Lack of Track Days

Noise was the big factor for Monday's at PIR.
As to getting more participation, the track days are getting very very expensive.
I heard $225 for MotoCorsa if you pay in advance this year. Not sure what Optimum is $199.

Factor in fuel, tires, oil and you are pushing $400 on the low side.

$199 for whole days.

Side affect of no one showing up at track days is prices gotta go up to cover the cost of the track rental, it costs the same no matter how many people show up. Get your buddies to show up, get their buddies too. Hit up bike nights if any local shops have em and get folks out to the track and off Skyline

So I called M-C to double check, it is full price but no lunch break so 5, 20min sessions (1hr 40min). They will still provide food you can grab between sessions.

OPRT Fridays are 7, 15min sessions (1hr 45min).

I think the Motocorsa day should be prorated vs. their standard day but definitely plently of track time. I've done 2 OPRT Fridays this year and do like the format. I'd probably like it even more if I had tire warmer setup so less "warm up" track time

I just did MotoCorsa on 6/2 and it was great.
I don't have any past track experience to compare to, I am a C group guy and this was my first track day.
They did stress their happiness of the higher decibel level allowed since it was Sunday. Staff was great, catered lunch was good, and the track is cool for a beginner. It was a little spendy once you factor in things, not as much for me since I live across the river but I still think it was worth it. Disappointed there are not many weekend track days

first track day? that's awesome!

it's definitely worth it, you're investing directly into your safety and skills on a motorcycle

weekends cost more, thousands more, to rent, and hence the higher price has to get passed on to the consumer. more weekend days would be great, but, the tracks decide who gets what, and then, if not many people show up, you can't keep taking losses forever as the company either, so it's rough.
