Just took a quick look. WTF is going on with the exhaust in that pic from the home page? The sharp bend is the tip of the iceberg. I can't imagine why they thought that would be a good pic to showcase their wares.

Interesting - that announcement came out of the blue!

I understand wanting to keep the name for recognition purposes, but it's always a bit odd to see a product line described while its namesake is still (presumably) alive and well.

I've had two brief rides on Buell bikes - a 99 Lightning and one of the 1190s a couple of years ago. Both notable, but in different ways. I was really impressed with the 1190 in all respects.

Not as much the Lightning (huge vibes). As I recall, the owner of the Lightning told me the next time I saw him that he found a broken motor mount a few days after I rode it - ha! Likely explained the vibes.

I had a look at the parts diagrams on the site. I like seeing the innards of a bike. The engine looks very robust and it has two counter balancers inside. All normal issues aside, like expected first-year-model bugs and my lack of funding; I would consider owning one.

Did you see the hill-climber dirt bike monster they're offering? It surely needs that extended swing arm.

I took a look at those offerings. Regarding the electric sport bike, I wonder how much more unsprung weight that motorized wheel has over a more conventional, chain-drive wheel.

Thanks for posting that - the link at the top of the feed didn't have a comment from Erik Buell, as this one did. From his post, he doesn't appear to have anything to do with the current Buells, which I suspected particularly after seeing the Fuell link.

Crazy! The press release says Grand Rapids, MI and that's where I'm moving to soon. I'll have to see if they have any entry-level openings when I get there (so done with big tech).

Go for it, as a long time bike owner you must be a decent mechanic. Throw in a little electrics and you'll be good to go.

My XB12ss might be the best "street" bike I've owned. Not fast, but quick enough. Erik had a big chance back in 2013 with HERO, but blew it. The 1190 was a pretty awesome sportbike and instead of building a brand and strengthening his dealerships, he went racing. World Superbike with the big boys and quickly went broke. The dealerships I talked with about buying an 1190 never had the opportunity to send techs to training or given the assurance for parts and spares support. That caused me to stick with the XB and I'm so glad I did. I'm hopeful these new guys can make it work, unfortunately Erik will have to sit and watch. Fingers crossed, would love to see another American 2 wheeler do well.
