OR DMV Mandatory Insurance Cert twice in a year?

Posting here becuase there is no general OR forum...

I haven't even had my big V for a year and the DMV has now sent me two (!!) insurance verification requests. Have only had smaller, older bikes before. Is that normal with big new bikes?

Thx!

PS, yes I have insurance.

Niether size, nor newness should matter.

My guess is that it was entered incorrectly when first registered (the insurance info).

I've got bikes of various kinds registered and have never had this happen.

  ?

If you haven't done so already, I would advise calling the DMV to find out what is going on. I've typically been able to resolve issues fairly quickly by doing so. For all you know, it could be something as simple as a clerical mistake, to something as serious as your insurance provider not providing you the minimum necessary coverage.

good idea. This time when responding, I included a proof of insurance letter. If it's an issue going forward, I'll give a call.

I've never been asked.

Did the DMV get some sort of a cancelation notice or something from your insurance company?

(I'm not sure if they have access to this sort of info, but it wouldn't surprise me...)

I got one of those insurance verification letters and wrote down the new york insurance policy number and never heard anything from them after that.

Maybe. The policy did renew. Maybe it has to do with my neighborhood (off 82nd).

Never gotten one of those letters before... I wonder if I'll get a similar letter for my DR650 since I haven't put it on my insurance plan yet.

How long after you bought the bike did you get the letter?

The first one came pretty early on, maybe 2 months after I got it. Second one just came last week.
