Crashing into a Cop.

Itís one thing to hit another vehicle, but hitting a cop has to make it worse...

What happened?

Too fast for the skill level?

Or panic braked because of the cop?

I'll go with all of the above and add inexperienced rider and WD 40 on the wheels (seriously look how shiny that back tire is).

You have no idea how much paperwork that is for us...

If someone crashes into one of our vehicles, even if it was parked, our supervisor has to do an entire major motor vehicle collision investigation report, with sketches, photos, and statements from every single driver, passenger, and/or witness, and the drivers get advised of their Miranda rights in writing before the statement.

Then the supervisor has to do an entire administrative investigation on the officer, even if the officer was not at fault, even if the vehicle was parked and the officer was not in it, and the officer gets advised of his Garrity rights before giving his statement.

It's a MAJOR hassle.

Buried in paperwork like the founders would have liked.

Any word on the rider? Looks survivable if he didn’t get hit by the cop car, or glanced off the back. My 0.02 is that rider saw the cop mid turn, rider thought he should slow it down a bit, hit the front brake, bike stood up, hit the brake harder, badda bing badda boom.

You guys realize that is a dash cam video from the cop car, right? It looks like the guy was too fast, decided he would not make it and/or hammered the front brake and went down and into the cop car.
Make sure and back the vid up to the beginning. It seems to be starting in the middle?

Old news. Happened back in June near Mollala. No endorsement and no insurance. Rider and deputy both injured.

When people ask me what I do for a living, I often deflect by telling them that I'm a lumberjack- I kill trees for a living.

Yes, I could have told you that just by holding the computer up to my nose and sniffing. Seen it MANY, MANY times. Usually on Harleys though...

And to be clear, by "no endorsement", that means no motorcycle license, which means that he was not licensed to operate the vehicle, which is an arrestable crime.

The rider figured that if he was going to make a fool of himself, he might as well go whole hog!

If you look at the video closely you’ll see he’s on the front brake and the tire lets loose as it hits the painted stripe.
