  A Harley, are you serious?
Back in town

Hey all I'm back in town for a while and want to catch up and ride with some of you I haven't seen in 10+ years. Sorry for the re-post but there's something wrong with the other post I made and I can't view it.

Welcome back to the left coast.

Since Lena quit her job I covered for her and deleted your faulty post.

I was seriously thinking about you recently when I was remembering how active this forum was and about our first trip to Fossil.

But, unfortunately, we can no longer be friends, you Harley turncoat.

I never thought I would ride a HD. I'm sure it's just a phase... you know me, I tend to go in for an oil change and end up leaving with a new motorycle. I like your new bike, perhaps we can swap for a few miles? I'm sure you'd love the HD haha!

Always glad to swap bikes. You know that.

The R1 is amazing. Lose your license fast.

But I have never ridden a Harley, or any large cruiser.

You enlightened me on little supermotos, with your Yamaha 250. Most fun I think I ever had riding in the rain.

It's certainly been a while. Welcome back. It'd be good to get out one of these semi dry days.

I was thinking of putting on some heated gear and heading to Fossil while I'm back. I can't remember the route all that well, but I'm not sure we'd make it over east hills without hitting snow. Could probably slab 84 to The Dalles.

Thoughts?

In theory, it sounds crazy. The reality is probably crazier still.

So, let me get this straight. You are riding over the mountains and through the high desert for 400 miles in one day in February on a fairing-less Harley?

That sound about right?

Yep, just got done wiring my bike for heated gear like 5 min ago! I was at 4500 ft. elevation in Idaho, so this above 30 F degree weather is amazing!

Give this route a shot.

It's a little more interesting than slabbing 84, and on the WA side you can take the Washougal River Rd and/or Cook Underwood Detours (time permitting of course).

If you wanted to hit the Rowena Loops, you could cross at the Hood River Bridge ($1.00 Toll), and slab 84 for about 5-7 miles to Mosier.

As routed, you would be able to run up Caslaw's "Stairway to Heaven". If time is an issue, you could just by-pass HWY 216, and continue down to Maupin.

For the return. Either back the way you came, or up 19 to Condon, then 206 to Wasco, 97 to 84 or 14, and back West.

Ha ha ha...I like where your collective heads are at, but this time of year even going to Madras area for work in a 4x4 truck can be a challenge for me.

Welcome back. Last ride I remember was Hagg Lake group ride and that gnarly section of pavement on the other side. They ever fix that?

Which reminds me of Nestucca. I never got past the reservoir? Wonder what it is like back there now. If they ever paved that like McClellan, that would be totally awesome.
