Yeah, turning around and coming back is probably the best way to enjoy that ride. But at least continue down the hill to the T-junction with 90: that stretch is a hoot, both ways. But 90 is a matter of trying to spot the potholes in all that dappled light and shade; beautiful but occasionally impactful and you have to take a lot of it pretty slow. All the same, I usually go as far as Northwoods. Continuing to Woodland has some really nice stretches but of course the price of that is slabbing it home on I-5. Some like to turn south on 503 at Yale toward Amboy and Battle Ground, but it ain't all that and right now there's road work involving long waits and a pilot car on oily new asphalt, so I wouldn't. Have fun. Tons of great places to stop for lunch in Stevenson. I finally tried Backwoods Brewery in Carson; had the brisket sandwich and a half-pint of pilsener, which is as much as I was prepared to take on before Wind River. |

We had lunch @ Backwoods, same as last time I went up that way. Busy place but great food and adequately staffed. Going uphill on Wind River Rd, in the technical portion, is fantastic. Better than I remembered ![]() Sent via SM-G930P |
