Heal quick!
While he should know better officers are humans as well.
Let's see, State that does not require a helmet? Check. Nice weather? Check. Riding up on or with a bunch of other bikes? Check. Blowing off a little steam while just being 'another rider'? Oh yeahhhhhh!

Snaza was not wearing a helmet...

The crash occurred at a curve. Snaza was trying to pass other riders he was with on a curve and lost control of his motorcycle.

"It was a poor decision," Gaston said.
What was the poor decision? Not wearing a helmet, or passing in a curve?

i dont think a helmet would have helped in this situation. i was only disappointed in the passing on the corner. but since i dont know the circumstances, i should probably keep my mouth shut. could have been a slower rider in front as he came around the corner. there is not a lot to do in that situation but hold on and pray.

im glad he is a fellow rider in his time off. i do wish him the best and hope he can hop back in the saddle when he has recovered.

“The fact that he was not wearing a helmet probably contributed significantly to his injuries,” Gaston said.

A Sanderson County dispatch report noted that he had head, arm and leg injuries.

He would have fewer problems if he'd been wearing a helmet and been able to control his Harley in nearly perfect conditions.

This story has Squid written all over it. If it had been one of us the news would add "Speed was likely a factor and police are investigating if alcohol was involved as well."

That said, I do wish him a speedy recovery..

I've been reading this and that and how there are so many hurt felt feelings and prayers. Now granted this was a bad accident, but had it been one of us then it would have been written differently. wonder if Snaza was wrote up for, to fast for conditions or? lack of control or? yea like he got one, right. I'll pray for a decent recovery here, but threes sayings come to mind . Karma is a bitch, Just because you can, doesn't mean you should, and what goes around comes around. IDK just something weird here, double set of standards? Do as I say, not as I do? That sets a fine example.

Full face helmet could have prevented his current state of the ICU visit. Hate all ya want but he crashed without a helmet on, stupid decision on his part.

As everyone says - his office might not have been so kind to those of us who are not cops. all we can do is to see the fellow-rider in him, hope he lives, and that his "us vs. them" is calibrated a bit.

We all ride because we are alive and want to be free. All of us.

Heal quickly, Sheriff, and get back out there and ride again!

This incident reminds me of that one guy from NY who has nick name "The Sheriff Of Wall Street"
Which one,

Preet Bharara,
nicknamed “the sheriff of Wall Street” by Time magazine
Preet Bharara Chalked Up Yet Another Victory For Himself And The State Department Of New York, But Markets Speculate This Is Not The End To The SAC Saga

or Eliot Spitzer,
The Sheriff Of Wall Street - CBS News

or maybe one of these "guys",

Did any of them ride their Harley off the road and into the bushes?
(Spitzer was involved with some bushes <probly Brazilian>, but that is a different story..)
