new ride area

Went to Montesano today and stopped at the convenience store where I talked with a couple Harley guys who told me about a new place to go. The turn off is the next one up from Montesano called the Wynoochee Valley rd. Going up to Wynoochee Lake. Never been, but definitely will. The road follows along the river and is nothin' but curves. And according to them the road has been repaved and is super nice too. Once up there looks like you can go over to Donkey rd. and come out above Humptulips. (west) Or veer right and come out way over on hwy 101 (east) back past Shelton. Just "shows to go ya'" that it pays to talk with other bikers. Of course you need to reference a map to see where these roads go exactly. KJ

The Wynoochee Valley Rd is epic, and very nice asphalt but anything West,North or East of Lake Wynoochee is gravel. Perfect for dualsports and Adv bikes, not so much for cruisers and sportbikes.

The map below is the paved section.

As a public service it should be mentioned that local LEOs might know about the road being "epic."

Wynoochee Coochie

Went on up Wynoochee Lake road last Monday, the day was perfect. Of course riding on a weekday always helps. Saw only a few cars going up, with no one in front. And coming back down I followed a guy in a pick up who obviously new that road well, cause he was flying. He was about a quarter mile ahead and moving fast enough I let him run "block". The road is well designed in the corners. Had the Kawi bellerin' through the tight corners. Talk about going for a row. Felt like I'd been rowing a boat w/ so much bar swinging. The C14 handled great and I thought this ain't no touring bike. I have the skills but it just comes down to how big are your Kahunas? I kept my riding to about 50% going up and about 70% coming back down being my first time. Just fun. Big time. Some of the serpentine corners -I just made a straight line through. And a couple of the tight hairpins with a hill after exiting were thrilling in fourth gear. Felt like Rossi at Isle of Mann for a few seconds! Ha ha- almost. Great run. Highly recommend it.
