Just met some of the Salem area riders at Five Guys last night. They invited me to join the forums. Well here I am

Just recently purchased a KTM Duke 390 and loving it (better pics to come later).

I'm 28 and live in Salem, OR. Happy to find a local community of riders.

Welcome to the PNW Moto family!

I just picked up the same KTM and I'm constantly smiling in my helmet... so much blasted fun!

And I just made the mistake of riding one with a Bazzaz fuel controller and exhaust... and I discovered more fun!

Such an awesome bike!

It's really a joy to ride, couldn't be happier with the purchase.

Those are definitely a few upgrades I'm thinking about (down the road). But I'll try not to test ride one to prevent myself from spending the money too soon!

Hey Beans,
Do you know if that was with stock gearing as well? I know these things are pretty finely tuned to get every bit of "oomph" out of these little engines already and that the fuel controller and pipe only add a few more ponies. Does the ECU really make that noticeable of a difference to the torque/power curve and feel?
I'm trying to hold of on spending a grand in performance mods as long as possible

Yes, stock gearing.

The obvious benefits - small performance increase, small weight decrease, better sound, removed emissions - are not why I want to make this upgrade.

The biggest benefit was how it cleaned up the first four gears. For example, second gear will blip forward too much on throttle and lurch back too much off throttle, and then the chassis is upset as you're setting up for the corner.

The Bazzaz fuel controller cleaned everything up - much more smooth, and I was dropping the 390 into the corners easier, smoother, which in turn allowed me to carry more speed, etc. It drastically changed the bike. So much blasted fun!

Before riding his Duke, I thought I was done with the upgrades. I completed the break in service and valve inspection. Added a comfort seat, full crash cage, tail tidy, axle sliders, and new levers. Brakes improved with EBC HH brake pads and ATE brake fluid. Upgraded the faulty radiator cap. And that should have been it.

But then I rode his 390, which had a K&N air filter, a much better intake cover expanding the airbox, the Bazzaz fuel controller, and a MIVV Suono Exhaust. It's about a grand to do those upgrades, but it does change the bike's power curve significantly in terms of smoothness.

I've owned many bikes over the years. Many bikes. Japanese to Italian. And in many ways, this 390 Duke provides me more smiles per mile than anything else I've ridden.
