Back on track.....

FWIW you might look at a tank bag that can convert into a backpack in lieu of a backpack. It will center, and secure, the weight on the bike itself, as opposed to adding mass high up on your own body. In calm conditions it is merely a nuisance to carry and more mass for you to move around. In windy conditions it becomes a great sail, with no halyard, anchored to your body, that will slap the cheeses out of you while riding.

I've been standing flat footed on mountains and almost been spun to the ground by side gusts hitting my pack. Imagine that when you are riding down the road on a 400#, 75 HP Grom.

Congrats on the bike. The old hippie is a bit jelly.

Thanks! I did order a tank bag just so I wouldn't have to have a backpack all of the time, but I think I will need a backpack as well.

It does! That was actually one of the main factors in buying a new bike.
