OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) State troopers are on the lookout to stop drivers who park in the left lane of highway for long periods of time.

The Washington State Patrol says the left lane is designed for passing and that it can be illegal for motorists to camp out in the left lane.

The special statewide emphasis that began Wednesday runs through Friday. Troopers will focus on stopping left lane campers, a major pet peeve of drivers.

Last year, the Washington State Patrol stopped 13,909 left lane law violators.
Can be? How about IS.

Does it really bother people that much? I just go around them. Don't think its legal to pass on the right though.

So if I'm in the right lane traveling at say 62 in a 60 and some slow poke is in the left lane doing 60, I have to slow down and not pass them? That would be illegal?

This sounds dumb...

Would be happier if they cracked down on the ass hats entering and leaving the toll lanes when they aren't suppose to.

Yes it is, as long as there is an open lane.

Keep right except when passing, etc.

If you are going 62 and the speed limit is 60 then you are already doing something illegal.

But as was said, if you are already in the right lane and it is open, then it isn't illegal to pass.

You often can't pass them because they're not going any faster than the cars next to them and there's no room.

JFC. you're one of them, aren't you?

If you see someone behind you that wasn't there a minute ago, MOVE RIGHT.
If you match the speed of the person next to you, at any speed, you're a bad person.
